Border demarcatio­n: Assistant Undersecre­tary for Border Security Affairs at the Ministry of Interior Major-General Sheikh Mohammad Al-Yousef Al-Sabah continues to inspect work on the maintenanc­e of signs on the Kuwait-Iraq border which is being done under UN supervisio­n, reports Al-Seyassah daily.

Following the tour Sheikh Al-Sabah said he is delighted at ‘what he has seen’ — the maintenanc­e work that is being carried out. He added this is done in an atmosphere of fraternal cooperatio­n between the Kuwaiti and Iraqi sides. He also praised the Iraqis for their efforts.

For its part, the specialize­d team has removed some border encroachme­nts at some places on both sides — the State of Kuwait and the Republic of Iraq.

The team has erected a tube at the encroachme­nt sites and connected it with another tube under the supervisio­n of the United Nations team and in the presence of security leaders from both sides. Employees strike: Employees of the Kuwait Energy Company, a Kuwaiti firm carrying out oil and gas exploratio­n, are on strike at the company’s headquarte­rs in Ras Gharib in Egypt, reports Al-Shahed daily.

The workers, who are in their sixth day of strike, have threatened to go on hunger strike if their demands are not met.

Mohammed Fayez, one of the employees said, he has been working on a daily basis for the past eight years and is still waiting to be appointed on permanent basis.

He added the company produces 6,300 barrels per day and the production has stopped for the past five days as a result of the strike. Passenger off-loaded: An unidentifi­ed Egyptian man was off loaded from the AlJazeera Airlines Flight No 560 to Suhaj, Upper Egypt, reports Al-Shahed daily.

It so happened that the passenger shortly before the flight took off, verbally abused the crew and tore off a curtain that separates passengers and the crew.

Although no complaint has been filed against the passenger, and no reason has been given, the airline refused to fly him.

The plane continued its journey after the man was taken off the plane. Kuwaiti shot at: Police are looking for two unidentifi­ed Kuwaitis for beating and shooting at a compatriot in Ardhiya, reports Al-Anba daily.

According to security sources the victim is shot in the stomach but it proved to be not fatal.

In a statement to a police investigat­or at a hospital where he was taken for treatment the victim said he was earlier involved in a dispute with the suspects.

He added, he was standing outside his home with a friend and when the duo attacked him he ran into his home but one of them fired at him. The bullet brushed his stomach.
