‘Trade & tourism can cement ties’

KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 27, (KUNA): The Consulate General of Kuwait in Hong Kong held a celebratory reception on the occasion of Kuwait’s 52nd Independence Day and 22nd Liberation Day, attended by a large crowd of Hong Kong’s senior officials.
The ceremony was attended by the guest of honor Hong Kong’s Secretary for Justice, Rimsky Yuen, President of the Legislative Council, Jasper Tsang, and General Commissioner of the Chinese Foreign Ministry, Song Zhe.
Heads of diplomatic missions, leading commercial companies and of Islamic organizations, several businessmen and a large number of members of the Arab and Islamic community also attended the ceremony.
Kuwaiti Consul General in Hong Kong, Bader Al-Tunaib said the national celebrations also coincide with the seventh anniversary of His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah AlAhmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah’s assumption of power.
Celebrations come at times when Kuwait is experiencing a comprehensive educational and economic development due to the great efforts exerted by His Highness the Amir, added Ambassador Al-Tunaib.
He noted that the KuwaitiHong Kong relations have developed greatly during the past few years, framed by extraordinary ties between both countries’ government institutions and private sectors.
Al-Tunaib stressed that the continuous support of developing bilateral relations will benefit both Kuwait and Hong Kong, indicating that there are several opportunities for cooperation in trade, investment and tourism.
Stage
For his part, Justice Secretary Yuen said that trade relations between Kuwait and Hong Kong will see remarkable development during the coming stage, especially after the signing of a number of significant bilateral agreements such as the Double Tax Avoidance Agreement, Investment Promotion and Protection Agreement and Economic and Technical Cooperation Agreement.
The government of Hong Kong welcomes future commercial and economic cooperation with Kuwait, Yuen concluded, noting that it also is capable of being a commercial medium between China and Kuwait.
Meanwhile, Kuwait Ambassador to Czech Republic, Ayman Al-Adsani, held a banquet on occasion of Kuwait’s 52nd Independence Day, 22nd Liberation Day and seventh anniversary of His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber AlSabah assumption of power.
Czech Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic, Tomas Dub, congratulated Kuwait on its national celebrations during the banquet held at Hilton hotel in Prague.
The event was attended by diplomats, public figures, academics and Czech parliament officials.
In a statement to KUNA, the Kuwaiti Ambassador AlAdsani extended his greetings to His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad AlJaber Al-Sabah, His Highness the Crown Prince Sheikh Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber AlSabah, and His Highness the Prime Minister Sheikh Jaber Mubarak Al-Hamad Al-Sabah on national celebrations.
On the other hand, the Czech Deputy Foreign Minister praised the excellent relations shared between two countries and the visit of Czech President, Vaclav Klaus, which reflects on Czech’s keenness to further strengthen relations with Kuwait.
