AMEC down Falcons 8-5 at Spring tourney
Top Spinners edge DMDA
KUWAIT CITY, Feb 27: AMEC Engineering fought past KOC Falcons, 8-5 while DMDA bowed to Top Spinners 6-7 on Friday on game-day 3 of the ongoing KOCTC/FTAK Spring 2013 Invitational Team Tennis Tournament being held on the Kuwait Oil Company Tennis Club (KOCTC) premises in Ahmadi.
AMEC racked up five straight set wins off the bat including three in the AA Category matches with Rey and Ronnie outscoring Warly and Marlon 8-5 in AA-1. Rey again partnered up with Roland to down Warly and Ferdie 8-4 in AA-2 while Roland/Ronnie defeated Marlon/Ferdie 8-1 in AA-3.
It was a 3-1 sets win in the BB Category for AMEC. George and Jimlo of AMEC out hustled Dante and Max 8-4 followed by Rajiv/George outclassing Dante/Diwan 8-1. KOC fought hard to redeem one set back with Diwan and Max outlasting August and Dodong 8-3. AMEC won by default in the last set 8-0.
Both teams won two sets each in the CC Category. AMEC took the first two sets with Rene and Mike rolling past Joey and Mohammad 8-2 while Ariel/Rene squeaked past Joey/Winston 8-5. It was payback time for KOC in the next two sets with Mohammad/Joel outclassing Terrence/Ariel 8-3 and the trashing of Mike/Hezer by Winston/Joel 8-2. KOC won by 2 points in the total scores 2321 in the CC Category.
KOC exacted revenge in the LL Category by trashing the AMEC ladies two sets to nil. Linda and Vilma trashed Bebot and Gina 8-1 while Linda and Cristy trampled Gina and Becky by the same score 8-1. The Lower C Category saw the pairing of Terrence/Ted beating John/Aryan 8-0.
AMEC and KOC had both two category wins with AMEC winning in AA and BB categories while KOC won the CC and LL categories. However, AMEC saw off KOC with 8 sets wins garnering 74 in the process against the 5 sets and 62 points for KOC.
Also on courts 3 & 4, Jonil and Sammy of Top Spinners downed DMDA’s Raed and Russell 8-2 in the AA-1 match while Raed teamed up with Rene in the AA-2 match to outpoint Jonil and Yoyong 8-6. In the AA3 deciding match, Sammy and Rowx outplayed Russell and Franklin 8-4 to clinch the victory in the AA Category.
The DMDA team came back with a 3-1 set win in the BB Category. Rene and Cris of DMDA beat Sonny and Yoyong 8-5 followed by Doods/Franklin outpointing Julius/Mr. Kim 8-6. Sonny and Mr. Kim gave a win for Top Spinners over Nats and Cris. Doods and Nats ensuring the category win for DMDA against Julius and Lope 8-3.
It was a close match in the CC Category with both teams winning two sets each. Danny and August for Spinners roared past Orly and Joseph 8-3 while August and Rafaan downed Norman and Boyong for the two sets win of Top Spinners. DMDA charged back with vengeance, Carlo/ Michael outplaying Benny/Rafaan 8-3 and Carlo/Boyong outplaying Danny/Lope 8-3. Top Spinners won the CC Category by the total scores of 22 to the 21 of DMDA.
Top Spinners had a lopsided victory in the LL Category winning both matches with sisters Mylene and Jo trashing Libby and Mercy 8-0 and Ghie/Mylene downing the tandem of Aseel/Mercy 8-4. In the Lower C Category, Joshua/Santyansh of Top Spinners beat Allen/Daniel 8-3.
Overall, Top Spinners walked away with 7 set wins and 82 points as against 6 set wins and 67 for the DMDA Architects. AMEC Engineers face DMDA Architects while Top Spinners do battle with KOC Falcons next week- end, Friday, March 01, 2013.
