Decision issued on 3 pc tuition fee hike

MOE forms technical panel

-

KUWAIT CITY, Feb 28: Minister of Education and Higher Education Dr Nayef Al-Hajraf recently issued a decision on the three percent tuition fee hike for foreign schools, including the British, American, French and bilingual schools, for two academic years — 2013/2014 and 2014/2015, reports Al-Nahar daily quoting sources.

Sources explained the decision was based on the recommendations presented in a meeting last January, in addition to the results of evaluation of foreign schools according to the development plan. Sources warned the ministry will not hesitate in taking the necessary action against schools that will violate the directive. Sources said the erring schools will be given 30 days to rectify their mistake. In case of failure to meet the deadline, the ministry will suspend the processing of transactions for one month, to be followed by the cancellation of the license at the end of the school year when the violation was committed, sources added.

Meanwhile, the Ministry of Education has formed a technical committee to study requests for the establishment of teams in accordance with the recommendation of the Civil Service Commission (CSC) to regulate procedures in forming teams or panels in government institutions, reports Al-Rai daily quoting sources.

Sources revealed this came after the State Audit Bureau released its report on the violations allegedly uncovered in the ministry in terms of the formation of committees or teams, particularly the purported granting of KD180 monthly allowance to the panel chairpersons and members.
