Doctors warned against issuing sick leave to people not ill
Returning workers to undergo medical tests
KUWAIT CITY, Feb 28: Ministry of Health has warned doctors from issuing sick leaves to individuals who do not deserve to get them, adding that they will be referred for investigations in case violations in this regard are discovered by the concerned authorities, reports Al-Kuwaitiah daily quoting informed sources.
They indicated that the ministry is firm about this matter, adding that any sick leaves issued before or after the national days’ holidays will be reviewed to ensure they were issued for valid reasons.
Sources also revealed that some medical centers easily issue sick leaves, which encourages people and adds fuel to the problem.
Meanwhile, they indicated that the Ministry of Health was almost empty on Wednesday due to several reasons, adding that some employees were on official assignments while others were on vacation.
In other development, Director of Public Health Dr Yousef Mundakar revealed that domestic workers and laborers who return to Kuwait after traveling to their countries will have to undergo medical examinations, adding that the examinations will be carried out in Shuwaikh or at Public Health Department, reports Al-Rai daily.
He indicated that many families expressed concern about the possibility of their domestic helpers affected with contagious diseases.
Meanwhile, Dr Mundakar revealed that a vaccination called Nimococal is available in all medical zones for children born after 2007, indicating that the Ministry of Health will soon hold a vaccination campaign to provide this vaccination to the children.
He pointed out that the vaccine will be distributed directly by the medical depots, as the vaccine is required to be stored in cool atmosphere.
