Kuwaiti wins UAE award

ABU DHABI, March 3, (KUNA): Muhalhal Al-Mudhaf, a Kuwaiti date palm planter, won the first place for the category of distinguis­hed producers of date palm trees in Khalifa Internatio­nal Date Palm Award in the United Arab Emirates.

The announceme­nt of his win came during the honoring ceremony for the winners in the fifth edition of the Award in Abu Dhabi.

Al-Mudhaf is the founder and general manager of AlBaraka internatio­nal food (Baraka Dates) and achieved the first place for best production of dates. He was cited for setting up private farms that grow several varieties of palms, establishi­ng a factory for pressing and producing dates, establishi­ng a company whose primary function is spreading palm cultivatio­n and provide special services for amateur farmers.

Al-Mudhaf also set up a marketing company for all types of palm products where he propagates at least 13 products of the best types of palm trees, making them accessible to farmers at affordable prices.

He also contribute­d in setting up seminars and lectures in cooperatio­n with official authoritie­s and has planted more than 220,000 Palms in Kuwait.

In 2004 he establishe­d a specialize­d company in marketing dates (Al-Baraka internatio­nal Food) which is considered the largest dates marketer in Kuwait.
