Pakistan Women’s Forum to host annual musical evening
PWF hopes to raise awareness on Pakistani culture
KUWAIT CITY, March 3: Pakistan Women’s Forum (Kuwait) is organizing their annual “Musical Evening and Dinner” on 15th March 2013, at 7:30 pm at Zumerida Hall in Kuwait. The event is being organized to showcase the rich heritage of music from the subcontinent, and to raise funds for charity.
This event was held for the first time last year, and the PWF welcomed over 200 guests Over 200 guests, mostly from the Pakistani expatriate communi- ty in Kuwait, were treated to a beautiful, well-prepared and sophisticated evening. Detailed planning was evident as decorations, from fresh flower arrangements to individual boxes of sweets in Pakistan flag colors, and a well managed program was followed as per the evening’s timelines. A brochure designed for the event highlighted the history and accomplishments of PWF. His Excellency, Iftekhar Aziz, the Ambassador of Pakistan, was Chief Guest at the evening.
The evening started with recitation from the Holy Quran followed by the national anthems of Kuwait and Pakistan. In her address, Yasmeen Mirza, President, PWF, shared the history of PWF and how proceeds from its efforts go to support charitable work in Pakistan and other countries in the region. She called members of PWF Committee on stage to thank them for their hard work and preparation in ensuring a pleasurable event.
The crowd was then invited to a sumptuous and elaborate dinner of traditional dishes from Pakistan.
Following dinner, the highlight of the evening was the performance of Yaser Javed, a young and upcoming singer from Pakistan, who had especially flown in for the evening. He enthralled the audience with his beautiful rendition of traditional ghazals, national songs and popular music from Pakistan. The evidence of the crowd’s enjoyment was the number of requests that poured in once Yaser started to sing and kept him engrossed in the performance for over 2 hours. The highlight of his performance was a number of national songs, befitting the occasion, which got an emotional response from all present as they brought to life the struggle and sacrifice of Pakistani people in creating a country of their own, depicting the hopes and aspirations of the Muslim diaspora in the sub-continent.
This year the PWF plans to hold the event on a larger scale, to cater to the overwhelming success of the evening last year. The event is open to members of all communities, and the PWF hope to raise awareness about the soulful Pakistani music and culture amongst the expatriate community in Kuwait. It promises to be an enjoyable evening.
