Kuwaiti inventor Al-abdeen wins golden medal
Award dedicated to Kuwait leadership
GENEVA, April 13, (KUNA): Kuwaiti inventor Adel Jumah Al-Abdeen won the golden medal, presented by Saudi Umm Al-Qura University for his innovation of a safe runway for aircraft landing during emergencies at the 41st International Exhibition of Inventions of Geneva.
Saudi Ambassador to Switzerland Hazem Karkatli presented Al-Abdeen with the golden medal, congratulating him and the state of Kuwait for this achievement.
“I dedicate this achievement to HH the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, HH the Crown Prince Sheikh Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, HH the Prime Minister Sheikh Jaber AlMubarak Al-Hamad Al-Sabah and to all Kuwaitis,” the inventor told KUNA.
He praised the role of HH the Prime Minister in supporting this invention, which reflects Sheikh Jaber’s interest and care of Kuwaiti inventors and creativity and all that benefits Kuwait and its people.
He also praised the role of Sabah AlAhmad Center for Giftedness and Creativity in supporting the inventors, and for their part in designing the invention model, in addition to licensing and certificating it.
He expressed his hope that his invention would reach the International Organization of Civil Aviation, in cooperation with Kuwait International Airport in order for his achievement to be imple- mented, especially that there are official bodies, belonging to the organization, which are seeking developments in the field of aviation.
The invention consists of a runway for aircrafts experiencing difficulties in landing either because of a fire or the inability to roll out the wheels while landing as it links the runway’s devices with a tower for firefighters with the flight deck and the airport control tower without affecting any of the communication equipment of the aircraft.
The 41st International Exhibition of Inventions of Geneva will conclude on April 14, in which 725 inventors from 45 countries are competing with a thousand inventions in varying fields.
