Oil ministry gives undertaking
KUWAIT CITY, April 13, (KUNA): The Kuwait’s Ministry of Oil has vowed to full commitment to the recommendations of the recently Kuwait-hosted First GCC Petroleum Media Forum.
In a press statement, the Ministry said it has already started to put into effect some the recommendations detailed in the final statement of the forum, held in Kuwait on March 25-26, 2013.
Head of the Petroleum Media Control Department at the Kuwait Oil Ministry Mudahi Al-Shemari said that the Ministry is compiling a book about the GCC Petroleum Media Forum’s deliberations and outcome.
The Ministry is producing a documentary movie about the role of petroleum media in defending GCC oil strategy, policies and interests and in highlighting the oil sector’s role in achieving stability in the international oil markets.
The forum, held under the banner of “GCC Petroleum Media - Reality and Aspirations”, has come up with the following recommendations:
Prepare publications and media documents related to the oil industry at the Council Countries in Arabic and English and distribute them inside and outside the Council Countries.
Regulate media campaigns in cooperation with international oil organizations to face the transmission of some international media means against the oil interests of the produc- ing countries.
Cooperation between the media systems at the international oil organizations and the Committee of Experts of Oil Media at the Council Countries to exchange expertise in all fields of oil media.
Hold some sections for the discussions of oil and energy issues which shall be composed of men of media and specialized journalists with the participation of academic entities and institutions.
Organize field visits to media systems and the news agencies of oil facilities which are authorized in the Council Countries and arrange for meetings between them and the officials in the oil industry.
Oil ministries and national oil companies of the Council Countries should adopt habilitation programs to a selected group of media people who are specialized in the oil field and urge them to issue books and specialized studies in the oil field
Produce media materials related to the oil industry at the Council Countries because it contributes to the economic and social development in the under-developing countries.
Produce documentary movies which show the exerted efforts at the Council Countries to keep the environment safe and employ clean technologies in the different stages of oil industry.
Keep an eye on all the news and reports related to oil in the international journalism and spread a summary of them on the electronic sites of the oil and energy ministries at the Council Countries.
