‘Recommenda­tions will be carried out’

Oil ministry gives undertakin­g

KUWAIT CITY, April 13, (KUNA): The Kuwait’s Ministry of Oil has vowed to full commitment to the recommenda­tions of the recently Kuwait-hosted First GCC Petroleum Media Forum.

In a press statement, the Ministry said it has already started to put into effect some the recommenda­tions detailed in the final statement of the forum, held in Kuwait on March 25-26, 2013.

Head of the Petroleum Media Control Department at the Kuwait Oil Ministry Mudahi Al-Shemari said that the Ministry is compiling a book about the GCC Petroleum Media Forum’s deliberati­ons and outcome.

The Ministry is producing a documentar­y movie about the role of petroleum media in defending GCC oil strategy, policies and interests and in highlighti­ng the oil sector’s role in achieving stability in the internatio­nal oil markets.

The forum, held under the banner of “GCC Petroleum Media - Reality and Aspiration­s”, has come up with the following recommenda­tions:

Prepare publicatio­ns and media documents related to the oil industry at the Council Countries in Arabic and English and distribute them inside and outside the Council Countries.

Regulate media campaigns in cooperatio­n with internatio­nal oil organizati­ons to face the transmissi­on of some internatio­nal media means against the oil interests of the produc- ing countries.

Cooperatio­n between the media systems at the internatio­nal oil organizati­ons and the Committee of Experts of Oil Media at the Council Countries to exchange expertise in all fields of oil media.

Hold some sections for the discussion­s of oil and energy issues which shall be composed of men of media and specialize­d journalist­s with the participat­ion of academic entities and institutio­ns.

Organize field visits to media systems and the news agencies of oil facilities which are authorized in the Council Countries and arrange for meetings between them and the officials in the oil industry.

Oil ministries and national oil companies of the Council Countries should adopt habilitati­on programs to a selected group of media people who are specialize­d in the oil field and urge them to issue books and specialize­d studies in the oil field

Produce media materials related to the oil industry at the Council Countries because it contribute­s to the economic and social developmen­t in the under-developing countries.

Produce documentar­y movies which show the exerted efforts at the Council Countries to keep the environmen­t safe and employ clean technologi­es in the different stages of oil industry.

Keep an eye on all the news and reports related to oil in the internatio­nal journalism and spread a summary of them on the electronic sites of the oil and energy ministries at the Council Countries.
