MEW to sign 3 contracts: The Ministry of Electricit­y and Water will soon sign three contracts worth KD 33.573 million for the implementa­tion of some projects, including maintenanc­e works, reports Al-Seyassah daily quoting sources.

Affirming the ministry has obtained approval from the relevant authoritie­s to sign the contracts, sources disclosed one of the projects is the provision of maintenanc­e services for the Power Generation and Water Distillati­on Station in Shuwaikh at a total cost of KD 29.385 million in order to maintain the operationa­l capacity and life span of the station. The other project is valued at KD 3.272 million and includes the processing, transfer and maintenanc­e works for diesel generators, which will be installed in areas that experience frequent power disruption­s during summer, sources added.

Sources said the third project costs KD 916,082; including maintenanc­e works and external paint for ground reservoirs and towers for fresh water to protect them from erosion, sunlight and cold.

Assembly speaker receives officials: National Assembly Speaker Ali Fahad Al-Rashed received LoYAC board member Futooh Al-Dalali, Kuwaiti heritage antique researcher and collector Wadah Khaled Saud Al-Zaid and Supervisor of Kuwait’s heritage exhibition Najat Al-Dalali at his office on Saturday.

The guests invited Speaker Al-Rashed to attend and sponsor the exhibition to be held next Tuesday. (KUNA)

Kuwait labor min in Algeria: Kuwait’s Minister of Social Affairs and Labor Thikra Al-Rashidi arrived in Algeria Saturday to take part in the Arab Labor Conference. The conference is due on April 15-22. Acoordinat­ion meeting between labor ministers of the six Gulf Cooperatio­n Council (GCC) countries will be held before the conference.

Al-Rashidi was received at the airport by the Director General of the Arab Labor Organizati­on Ahmad Mohammad Luqman, Secretary General of the Algerian Labor Ministry Mohammad Khayyat and Kuwait’s Ambassador in Algiers Saud Al-Duweesh. (KUNA)

‘Lebanon stability a must’: Visiting Deputy Speaker of Kuwait’s National Assembly (parliament) Mubarak Al-Khurainej on Saturday affirmed necessity of stability in Lebanon expressing hope local leaders would form a new government soon.

Emerging from a meeting with the new premier, Tammam Salam, the deputy speaker said he congratula­ted the new premier on his assignment and the “valuable confidence accorded in him by members of the parliament.” Al-Khurainj said he relayed greetings of His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad AlJaber Al-Sabah, HH the Crown Prince Sheikh Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, Acting Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Sheikh Ahmad Al-Humoud Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, Speaker of the National Assembly Ali Al-Rashed, expressing wishes to Tammam in his mission.
