Govt urges jobless Kuwaitis to find work in private sector
Call to replace expats with citizens in public sector
KUWAIT CITY, April 15, ( KUNA): Government officials briefed the Cabinet Sunday over means of addressing unemployment, encouraging Kuwaitis to work in private sector and replacing expatriates with citizens in the government sector.
Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs and Minister of State for Municipal Affairs Sheikh Mohammad Abdullah AlSabah, executives at the Civil Service Commission (CSC) and the workforce restructuring authority briefed the Cabinet over proposals to offering incentives to employees in the private sector.

They also talked about a strategy aimed at replacing expatriates with Kuwaiti citizens in the government sector, as well as supporting and encouraging Kuwaitis to work in private sector, an official statement said.
They said the CSC, noted the statement, has already begun the replacement policy as well as appointing fresh graduates in jobs that match their studies.
They added that jobs were created in 21 government bodies while Kuwaitis represented 90 percent of total workforce.
They proposed financial incentives for Kuwaitis in private sector and creating jobs through small-size enterprises, said the statement.
The Cabinet was chaired by Acting Prime Minister and Interior Minister Sheikh Ahmad Humoud Al-Jaber Al-Sabah.
Meanwhile, Information Minister Sheikh Salman Sabah Al-Sabah briefed the Cabinet about the activation of media environment of the government.
He said the Information Ministry would act as an advisor for a ministerial committee which would be tasked with formulating the State’s media address.
The ministry, explained Sheikh Salman, would contribute to determining local and international media expertise to help formulate the media address.
He said the official spokesman would be the one authorized to speak to media with regards to the state general policies.
For his part, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Sabah Khaled AlHamad Al-Sabah briefed the Cabinet about outcome of the recent Kuwait-Bahrain higher committee meetings that were held here.
He said Kuwait reaffirmed firm support for Bahrain’s call for national dialogue.
The committee, he said, concluded the meeting by signing a number of agreements to finance development projects in Bahrain, as well as MoUs on agricultural, animal, maritime, parliamentary, media, cultural and tourism cooperation.
The Cabinet, meanwhile, took note of His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah AlAhmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah’s assigning of His Highness the Prime Minister Sheikh Jaber Mubarak Al-Hamad Al-Sabah to attend the funeral of former British prime minister Baroness Margaret Thatcher.
The Cabinet was briefed on a recent letter received by HH the Amir from Qatari Amir Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani, hailing Kuwait’s hosting of the first session of the Asia Cooperation Dialogue Conference on Oct 15-17, 2012, and HH the Amir’s initiative for supporting development projects in non-Arab Asian countries.
The Cabinet was also apprised of a recent letter received by HH the Amir from FAO Director General Jose Graziano da Silva, appreciating Kuwait’s support for the FAO’s effort at all levels and hosting the donor conference on Syria on Jan 30, 2013.
Acting Prime Minister and Interior Minister Ahmad Humoud Al-Jaber Al-Sabah then kept the Cabinet posted on the outcomes of a visit by Queen Silvia of Sweden to Kuwait last week, and the outcomes of talks between both sides on ways and means of reinforcing and developing distinguished relations between both friendly nations.
