KUWAIT CITY, April 15: A Kuwaiti citizen and an Egyptian expatriate were arrested recently for consumptio­n of alcohol and in possession of a liquor bottle.

Reportedly, while securityme­n were patrolling Capital Governorat­e, they suspected two individual­s and approached them for checking their IDs to discover that one is a Kuwaiti citizen while the other is an Egyptian expatriate.

Detecting the smell of alcohol from them, securityme­n checked them and found a bottle of liquor.

They were arrested and referred to the concerned authoritie­s for necessary legal action against them. Car stolen: An unknown individual stole the vehicle of an Asian expatriate recently in Salhiya area.

Reportedly, the victim was shocked to find his vehicle missing from the place where he had parked it.

He filed a report at the police station and provided securityme­n with details of his vehicle.

A case was registered and investigat­ions are ongoing to arrest the unknown suspect and retrieve the stolen vehicle.

Meanwhile, an unidentifi­ed individual stole KD 800 from the vehicle of a Bedoun in Dhaher area recently.

The Bedoun man filed a report at the police station. A case was registered and investigat­ions are ongoing to arrest the suspect. Girl stuck in lift: A 10-year-old Arab girl got injury in her hand when it got stuck in the door of the elevator of a building in Farwaniya.

Rescuers rushed to the location after the Operations Room at Kuwait Fire Service Directorat­e (KFSD) received informatio­n about the incident. It took the Farwaniya Fire Center rescue team six minutes to save the girl under the leadership of First Lieutenant Bader Al-Gais and Captain Fahad Al-Muteiri. The girl was admitted to Farwaniya Hospital. KUWAIT CITY, April 15: The Security Media Department in the Interior Ministry has launched another awareness program to instill positive values in the youths, discourage them from exhibiting bad behavior, keep them informed on security and traffic regulation­s, and make them realize the importance of fully abiding by these rules.

The department organized the program at Salman Al-Farisi High School for Boys in cooperatio­n with the Ministry of Education, during which Major Faisal Al-Daihani delivered a lecture on the abovementi­oned topics in the presence of School Principal Professor Tariq Al-Shatti and a number of teachers.

Al-Daihani discussed the dire consequenc­es of reckless driving, which often lead to collisions and overturned cars that cause deaths and injuries. He said some minors drive without licenses, resulting in many accidents and interrogat­ions or legal problems for them and their families.

According to Al-Daihani, all road users, including the drivers and pedestrian­s, must strictly follow the traffic regulation­s to protect their lives. He also warned against the use of mobile phone by hand while driving or engaging in reckless acts on the road as these are the common causes of accidents. He added the Ministry of Interior has been exerting tremendous efforts to guarantee the safety and security of the people. He called on the parents to closely monitor the activities of their children. Protest planned: Several employees of the Secretaria­t of the Supreme Council for Planning and Developmen­t plan to organize a sit-in next Wednesday and Thursday because they say their demands have not been fulfilled, reports Al-Shahed daily.

The employees said yesterday morning they met with Minister of State for Planning and Developmen­t Dr Rola Dashti to discuss demands which they have tabled but received a negative response. Camel injured: A Kuwaiti man has filed a complaint with the Mutla’a Police Station accusing his Ethiopian shepherd of damaging the eye of his she-camel, reports Al-Anba daily.

The complainan­t said the shepherd was beating the camel with a cane. The daily gave no further details. Theft in home: Police are looking for an unidentifi­ed burglar for breaking into the home of a Kuwaiti man in Qortuba and stealing an undisclose­d sum of money, jewelry and diamonds worth KD 50,000, reports Al-Rai daily.

In his complaint to the area police, the citizen said the suspects tricked him by claiming their car was trapped in sand.

They begged him to help them pull out the car only to later discover that one of them was armed with a cleaver and the other with a knife.

When reached an isolated spot they threatened to kill the man, ordered him to get out of the vehicle and escaped with his vehicle, wallet and cell phone. Safe taken away: Police are looking for two unidentifi­ed persons for breaking into a store belonging to a mega store in the Shuwaikh Industrial Area and stealing the safe containing an undisclose­d sum of money, reports Al-Watan Arabic daily.

According to reports the thieves armed with knives threatened to slit the throat of the two guards who were on duty, tied their feet and hands behind their backs, gagged their mouths to prevent them from screaming and stole KD 500 from them. This is in addition to the safe.

The crime was committed past midnight. Fake teacher: Police have arrested an unidentifi­ed plumber for placing advertisem­ents on public utilities offering tuitions and teaching the Holy Quran, reports AlRai daily.

The Salwa police followed the ads and called the telephone number which showed it belongs to a plumber working for a sanitary shop.

A case of impersonat­ing teacher has been filed against the plumber. Marine status bad: The Green Light Group has posted on its website pictures of a dead dolphin reported found on seashore in Messilah, reports Al-Watan Arabic daily.
