Woman injured

KUWAIT CITY, April 15: An Asian woman sustained minor burns when fire engulfed an apartment on the third floor of a five-storey building in Salhiya opposite Kuwait Fire Service Directorat­e.

According to sources, firefighte­rs from Capital, Hilali and Technical Rescue Stations rushed to the location and extinguish­ed the fire before it spread to the nearby apartments.

The firefighte­rs were led by Capt. Ahmad Al-Failakawi while Head of the Capital Fire Station Major Yacoub AlQattan supervised the operation.

The firefighte­rs started the operation by evacuating all the occupants of the building. The injured victim was treated at the site. Securityme­n registered a case for investigat­ions to determine the cause of the fire.

Meanwhile, Fire broke out at the main gate of Mubarak Al-Kabeer Hospital recently, reports Al-Watan Arabic daily.

Firefighte­rs rushed to the location after receiving informatio­n and extinguish­ed the fire, thereby preventing a disaster that could have occurred if the fire spread further into the Hospital.

No casualties were reported.

The victim has filed a complaint with the Maidan Hawalli Police Station. In his complaint the man said he was standing in front of a hotel and a drunkard claimed he was the undersecre­tary at a vital ministry and without reason hit him on the head with a metal pipe. The victim has provided police with the details of the suspect. Snake stirs panic: Panic spread among the pupils and teaching staff of the AlShorouq Kindergart­en School in Bayan when a snake was seen near the school fence, reports Al-Watan Arabic daily.

Head of Hawalli Education Directorat­e Abdullah Al-Harbi with personnel from the concerned authority rushed to the school to deal with the situation but found no snake.
