KUWAIT CITY, April 15: Multidisciplinary care is healthcare practice that emphasizes the collaboration of healthcare specialists across different disciplines to provide the best care to the patient. Enhancing this model of care is the focus of the Kuwait Cancer Control Center (KCCC) and University Health Network (UHN) Partnership. UHN’s team of highly specialized Head and Neck cancer specialists will be in Kuwait from April 7 to 19 to work at KCCC in the Al Sabah Medical District, Shuwaikh.

This visit counts as one of many where specialized UHN teams from the Princess Margaret Cancer Centre work alongside KCCC’s medical teams to enhance cancer care, provide clinical expertise to patients, and strengthen cancer service delivery through multidisciplinary care. This will be the third visit for the UHN’s Head and Neck Cancer team to Kuwait.

In addition to performing their clinical work, the team will evaluate the progress made to date based on their original recommendations. For example, last year Dr. Ralph Gilbert performed a very complex surgery where he reconstructed a tongue for a cancer patient using the patient’s own tissue from his arm.
