Snoop Lion doing ‘One Life to Live’ theme and guest starring

-

NEW YORK, April 15, (Agencies): When Snoop Dogg recorded “The Next Episode,” we didn’t realize he was talking about soaps: The newly christened Snoop Lion will both record the theme song of the new “One Life to Live” and appear as himself in several episodes.

Prospect Park/The Online Network, which is producing the new version of the show, announced last week that Snoop will write, perform and produce a theme song called “Brand New Start” featuring singer Iza Lach.

The idea of a brand new start resonates with both “One Life to Live” and Snoop Lion because, well, you know. The series is getting a new life after it was canceled by ABC.

On the series, Snoop Lion will visit the fictional town of Llanview to promote his new film, “Reincarnated” which documents his transition from Snoop Dogg to Snoop Lion.

In his previous life, Snoop made several cameos on the old version of the show.

A winner of the British version of “The Apprentice” has lost a lawsuit over her claim she was forced out of the job she won on the show.

Stella English was 2010 champion of the program, which sees would-be entrepreneurs compete for a job with millionaire businessman Alan Sugar.

English sued Sugar after leaving her 100,000 pound-a-year ($150,000-a-year) post, complaining that she was treated like an “overpaid lackey.”

An employment tribunal last week dismissed her claim that she was forced out, saying she had resigned, not been fired.

Judge John Warren said that “the reality was that the claimant had in her mind that having won ‘The Apprentice,’ the role would be much more glam- orous” than it turned out to be.

Sugar called the ruling “a victory for the law.”

Aaron Sorkin’s drama “The Newsroom” will return to the air for its second season July 14 at 10 pm, the network has said.

The series, which stars Jeff Daniels as crusading television journalist Will McAvoy, hit a series high with its Season 1 finale in August, drawing 2.8 million total viewers — a considerable improvement over the 2.1 million viewers that the series’ premiere drew.

Emily Mortimer, Sam Waterston, John Gallagher, Jr, Alison Pill, Thomas Sadoski, Olivia Munn and Dev Patel also star in the series, which was created by “West Wing” veteran Sorkin. Sorkin also executive produces, along with Scott Rudin and Alan Poul.
