KUWAIT CITY, Nov 27, (KUNA): Yemeni Foreign Minister Abu Bakr Al-Qirbi said here on Wednesday his country is in the right direction towards the implementation of the Gulf political initiative purposed to resolve Yemen’s political crisis.

Speaking at a joint meeting of the GCC-Yemen foreign ministers, which kick-started here on Wednesday, Al-Qirbi said the achievement made so far in the implementation of the transitional stage to resolve the political crisis was praiseworthy.

But, he said much work is still needed to be done in order to improve the economic and security situation in the country. He said great efforts were exerted to maintain national dialogue in order to maintain security and stability in the country.

The Yemeni foreign minister believed that the success of the national dialogue would be in the interest of all political parties and forces in the country.

However, he called on the international community to ease out the living sufferings of the Yemeni people, suggesting the holding of an annual Friends of Yemen meeting on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly.

Meanwhile, in a keynote speech, during the GCCYemen foreign ministers meeting, Kuwaiti Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Sabah Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah congratulated the Yemeni people on steps taken in the context of their country’s peaceful power transition and the outcomes of the national dialogue.
