34 held, 15 cars, liquor seized in crackdown
Major wedding hall fire averted
KUWAIT CITY, Nov 27: Ahmadi securitymen arrested 34 individuals, seized 15 vehicles, issued 25 citations against various traffic violations and seized 73 bottles of locally brewed liquor during intensive security campaigns in few locations within Ahmadi Governorate, reports Al-Seyassah daily.
Among the 34 arrested individuals, eight were wanted by law as they were involved in various cases while 26 were without Civil IDs or valid residencies. They were referred to the concerned authorities for necessary legal action against them. They also referred the vehicles to the seized-garage.
Ahmadi Security Director Major General Ayed Al-Otaibi revealed that such campaigns will continue in all areas of the governorate to arrest violators of law and traffic regulations. Major fire averted: A fire was averted when smoke started billowing out from a speaker that was set up in the ladies section of a ballroom in Sabahiya area, says Al-Seyassah daily.
According to security sources, a marriage reception was being held at the hall in Sabahiya area and the marriage party was receiving the guests when they noticed smoke coming of from a speaker in the ladies section. One of the women immediately disconnected the electricity in order to prevent any fire incident.
When the Operations Room of Ministry of Interior received information about the incident, firefighters rushed to the location with securitymen and paramedics.
They evacuated the hall and found the smoke was due to short circuit. Asian held with drugs: An Asian expatriate was arrested in possession of 1.5 kilograms of ‘opium’ drug, says Al-Seyassah daily.
According to sources, when the Directorate General for Drug Control received information about an Asian expatriate involved in drug peddling, a team was formed for investigations.
After confirming the information and taking necessary legal measures, they arrested him and raided his apartment to find 50 grams of opium.
During investigations the suspect, confessed that he was involved in drug peddling and that he had more drugs which he had buried in a deserted area. He guided the securitymen to the location where they found the remaining opium packed in sachets and a sensitive weighing scale.
