Sirens tested: The General Administration for Civil Defense tested sirens on Nov 27 in the presence of the Assistant Undersecretary for Operations Affairs of the Ministry of Interior Major General Abdullah Al-Muhanna and other top officials.
Employees of the Civil Defense Administration were spread out to all areas to hear the siren, note the observations and accordingly take necessary measures based on their observations. Boost in ties eyed: Army Chief of Staff Lieutenant General Abdulrahman Mohammad Al-Othman met here Wednesday with head of the US military’s Transportation Command General William Fraser, discussing with him issues of common interest.
Al-Othman praised the strong ties between the US and Kuwait and affirmed that both countries were keen on enhancing relations.
The meeting was attended by commander of the Kuwait Air Force Air Commodore Sultan Khamis Al-Farhan and Director of Operations and Planning air-force Major General Abdulrazzaq Al-Awadi. (KUNA) ‘Prevent smuggling’: The Acting Director of the General Customs Department Khalid Abdullah Al-Saif recently visited the border checkpoints to inspect the work methods of the customs officers as well as to enquire their needs. Head of the Media Office Mubarak Al-Qattan and Director of the Public Relations Department Meshal AlJareed was also present at the location at the time of the visit.
Al-Saif observed the improvements and latest developments at the locations and urged the employees to continue their efforts in preventing people from smuggling illicit contraband into the country.
He said he will continue such visits to enquire the needs of the employees. Political ties talks: The Chairman of Kuwait Chamber of Commerce and Industry Ali Mohammad Thunayan Al-Ghanim received at his office the Tunisian Ambassador to Kuwait Noura Al-Din Al-Rai on Nov 27 at 10am.
During the meeting, they discussed the political relations shared between Kuwait and Tunisia and other matters of mutual interest.
