LATVIA, Nov 27, (RTRS): The Continental Hockey League (KHL) has fined Dinamo Riga one million roubles ($30,300) after a Nazi symbol was displayed during a ceremony on the ice before their match against Yugra Khanty-Mansiysk earlier this month.

“Use of any graphic forms showing Nazi signs and symbols, as well as similar images, are inadmissible for the KHL clubs and their fans,” the KHL said in a statement on Tuesday. A military ensemble appeared to unfurl a large swastika on the ice in a ceremony, dedicated to the 95th anniversary of the Latvian Republic, just before Dinamo’s 4-3 win on Nov. 17.

“It has many names, but this is not a swastika,” Dinamo’s press secretary Janis Stepitis said, adding it was used as a symbol of the Latvian armed forces before the country was occupied by the Soviet Union in 1940. The KHL said Dinamo, based in the Latvian capital Riga, could face expulsion from the championship in the case of a similar incident.

Dinamo are third in the KHL’s Western Conference with 59 points from 30 games, nine points behind leaders SKA St Petersburg.

The KHL, an international league set up in 2008, has 28 clubs from Russia, Belarus, Latvia, Ukraine, Kazakhstan, Czech Republic, Slovak Republic and Croatia competing in four divisions from September to April for the Gagarin Cup. the game again as soon as we come out,” Stars coach Lindy Ruff said. “But we were able to turn it, I can tell you a nice story now. Otherwise, we might have blamed the game on that late goal.”

Eakin’s sixth goal of the season tied it 2-2 with 14:35 left. Only 25 seconds later, Robidas was between the circles when he scored his fourth of the season.

Garbutt then gathered a loose puck and scored with a backhanded swipe with 13:42 left to make it 4-2. He didn’t realize how quickly the trio of goals had come.

“But it was pretty cool,” said Garbutt, who also had two assists.

Fans in the building were suddenly in a frenzy as Boudreau finally called timeout.

“We might have had to have a little bottle of NoDoz after the first period, but we woke them up in the third,” Ruff said.

Roussel was in the crease when he netted his second goal with just under 8 minutes left. Hiller quickly argued with the referee to no avail, trying to get an interference call. Dan Ellis stopped 28 shots, winning for only the second time in seven games. Dallas had been 0-2-2 at home since a 5-1 victory over Calgary on Oct 24. grievance hearing in New York. In Mr Selig’s world, apparently the ‘buck’ does not stop with Bud,” the new complaint said. “Mr Selig lacked the courage of his convictions to explain under oath the reasons for the suspension and the conduct of his investigators. His silence on these issues speaks volumes and leads to only one logical conclusion — his actions, and those of the MLB personnel he controls, were aimed at destroying the reputation, career and business prospects of Alex Rodriguez.”

Rodriguez was suspended Aug 5 for alleged violations of the sport’s drug agreement and labor contract, and he played pending a determination of the grievance.

As he did in the original complaint, Rodriguez accused Selig of conducting a “witch hunt” against him. The three-time AL MVP criticized the methods MLB employed in its investigation of the Biogenesis of America anti-aging clinic, accused of distributing banned performance-enhancing drugs.

A-Rod’s lawyers included a photograph of Selig posing with a fan wearing a red shirt that had “A-ROID” written across the front. While the lawsuit attributes the photo to NESN.com, the NESN’s website says the photo was from the 2009 All-Star FanFest and was taken from
