Celtic’s Forrest arrested: Celtic player James Forrest has been arrested in connection with two cases of alleged public indecency, police said Tuesday.
The 22-year-old midfielder has been reported to the procurator fiscal (Scotland’s public prosecutor) over the offences, which are alleged to have taken place in Prestwick, south-west of Glasgow, earlier this month.
Police Scotland said: “A 22-yearold man is subject to a report to the procurator fiscal in connection with two alleged public indecencies in Prestwick on Saturday Nov 16 into Sunday Nov 17.” (AFP) Test player Reg Simpson dies: The oldest surviving player to have played in an England Test match, Reg Simpson, has died at the age of 93, his former county Nottinghamshire announced on Wednesday.
Simpson made 27 Test appearances for England, the highlight of which was an unbeaten 156 against Australia in Melbourne in the final Test of the 1950-51 Ashes series. (AFP) Re dead at 75: Cayetano Re, a former Barcelona forward who was La Liga top scorer half a century ago and also played for and coached his native Paraguay, has died at the age of 75, Barca said on Tuesday.
Re played for the Catalan club for four seasons and won a King’s Cup in 1963, Barca said on their website (www.fcbarcelona.com). He netted 25 goals in 30 matches in the 1964-65 La Liga season to top the scoring chart ahead of Brazilian Waldo of Valencia. (RTRS) Al-Hamad handball held: The closing ceremony of the Mohammad Al-Hamad Handball Championship will be held on Thursday, November 28 at 10 am at Fahad Al-Ahmad Hall of the headquarters of the Handball Federation in Dai’ya area under the patronage of the President of the Police Sports Association Lt General Ahmad Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah.
The championship was held from Nov 24-28 for which five sectors of the Ministry of Interior participated. The teams displayed strong competitive spirit in order to win the title of the championship.
