‘Grilling stirred chaos’
‘Review decision’
KUWAIT CITY, May 11: Founder of Kuwait Social Movement Attorney Mubarak Al-Mutawa declared the current legal and constitutional crises in the country emanated from the decision of the National Assembly to scrub out from parliament’s agenda the grilling submitted against HH the Prime Minister.
In a press release, Attorney Al-Mutawa indicated some lawmakers resigned from the National Assembly as a result of the decision, and escalating an already heated political situation to the point of political instability.
He stressed that efforts to find lasting solution to the current situation must include a review of the parliamentary decision and the aftermath. He noted the situation may become worse in future and recommended the need to specify and adapt to constitutional measures in the National Assembly, since the issue combines legislative and administrative activities.
He explained the administrative aspect of the activities is about monitoring the judiciary, and so the other aspect should be separated from the judiciary through the Constitution.
He reasoned that the decision taken by the National Assembly was an affront on the judicial verdict as contained in Article 173 of the Constitution. He believes the action amounted to wrong use of Article 50 of the Constitution, because the lawmakers should have referred the issue to the Constitutional Court.
