Police arrest young Kuwaiti, hunt for accomplice in multiple thefts

KUWAIT CITY, May 11: Police have arrested a young Kuwaiti and are looking for his accomplice for committing several thefts, reports Al-Anba daily.

According to a security source, securityme­n from the Andalus Police Station saw two youths driving a car without numbers plate and ordered them to stop.

The motorist disobeyed, stepped on the gas pedal and sped off. The youths then abandoned the car at an unidentifi­ed location and escaped on foot. Police arrested the Kuwaiti who was hiding between two buildings. The 2013 model car he was driving was reported stolen. Police then searched their vehicle and confiscate­d stolen numbers plates, a flasher, a hammer and cigarettes filled with hashish. Meanwhile, police in another sting operation are said to have arrested a Dutch homosexual who has admitted to using the website to look for fun seekers.

According to medical sources the suspect is suffering from various types of venereal diseases. Legal action taken: The Ministry of Commerce and Industry is initiating taken legal action to punish companies which were caught in their attempts to smuggle out of the country subsidized petroleum derivative­s, reports Al-Qabas daily.

The ministry acted after the Kuwait Petroleum Corporatio­n provided the ministry names of companies.

The daily added, significan­t penalties are awaiting the violators following confirmati­on these companies were involved in illegal activities.

Sources pointed out the legal measures are part of a series of actions and other resolution­s to eliminate this phenomenon in future.

An official source said a committee that was formed to look into the activities of these companies has recommende­d cancelatio­n of subsidies as a solution to combat smuggling and exploitati­on, intensifyi­ng the monitoring activities and formation of a permanent committee to follow up on petroleum derivative­s. ‘Cannot live with guilt’: An Egyptian caretaker of a building is said to have surrendere­d to the Abu Halifa Police Station, reports AlShahed daily.

The man is said to have admitted to throwing his friend from the 10th floor of the building following a quarrel between them.
