Indian expat in liquor peddling

KUWAIT CITY, May 11: Farwaniya securityme­n arrested an Indian man, in his 30s, with 315 bottles of locally-brewed liquor after a hot chase in Jleeb Al-Shuyoukh.

While patrolling the area, the security officers noticed the suspect loading black bags in his vehicle; so they approached him for routine inspection. However, the suspect fled and the officers chased him until he was arrested.

The officers discovered several bottles of local alcoholic drink inside the black bags when they inspected the suspect’s vehicle. During interrogat­ion, he admitted to selling alcohol at KD2.5 per bottle. He was then referred to the concerned security department, along with the confiscate­d items, for the necessary legal action. Car set on fire: A pistol cover and a lighter shaped like a hand grenade were discovered inside a stolen vehicle, which an unknown individual set on fire in Sulaibiya area.

According to security sources, when the Operations Room of Ministry of Interior received informatio­n about a vehicle on fire in Sulaibiya area, firefighte­rs rushed to the location with paramedics and securityme­n and extinguish­ed the fire.

Securityme­n checked the details of the vehicle to discover it was reported as stolen. When they checked the contents of the vehicle, they were shocked to find a hand grenade and a pistol cover. They immediatel­y summoned the bomb squad who checked the hand grenade to realize it is a lighter.

Investigat­ions are ongoing to find and arrest the suspect who stole the vehicle and set it on fire. Police hunt for truth: The Security Media Department at the Interior Ministry recently issued an official statement to clarify rumors spread through various social networking sites about an expatriate who was allegedly harassed by four transvesti­tes inside a commercial mall in Salmiya.

Rumor has it that a security officer interfered and took the side of the transvesti­tes.

It has been reported a young woman filed a complaint at a police station where she presented a medical report on her injuries. The concerned security authoritie­s have started taking the necessary measures to find out the truth.
