LeBron James wows fans in Hong Kong
Cavs’ star apologies to neighbors, sends cupcakes
HONG KONG, July 23, (AP): LeBron James put on a demonstration of his basketball skills in Hong Kong, the midway stop on his tour through China.
The Cleveland Cavaliers star helped run some local fans through basketball drills in the former British colony on Wednesday. And then he showed off with a few moves of his own, including a dunk that, with the help of some special effects, was accentuated by two jets of smoke from behind the backboard.
The move drew huge cheers from the 1,500 fans packed into the court in Kowloon.
Earlier in the day, James made an appearance at a store that was mobbed by hundreds of fans.
James kicked off his Nike-sponsored five-day trip on Monday with a visit to Beijing. He is travelling to Taiwan on Thursday and Friday.
Meanwhile, James has sent cupcakes to his neighbors to apologize for the ruckus caused by the announcement of his Ohio homecoming earlier this month.
Cleveland Cavaliers fans and journalists arrived en masse to the NBA star’s Akron area home to await his July 11 decision on whether he would come back to Ohio or stay with the Miami Heat. A commotion ensued, and police were called to direct traffic.
To make amends, the LeBron James Family Foundation sent a note of apology accompanied by a dozen cupcakes to neighbors on Tuesday, according to multiple media outlets.
Several neighbors tweeted photos of the cupcakes and the note saying that “we are sorry for the chaos,” adding that the James family is “so blessed to have understanding neighbors like you.”
