Luncheon held for Speaker: Kuwait Ambassador to Switzerland Bader AlTunaib on Tuesday held a luncheon in honor of Kuwaiti National Assembly Speaker Marzouq Ali Al-Ghanim and his accompanying delegation.
The Kuwaiti Permanent Representative to the UN Office in Geneva Ambassador Jamal Al-Ghoneim and Saudi Arabia, UAE, Qatar ambassadors have attended the luncheon.
Al-Ghanim and his accompanying delegation later today will meet with Swiss President of the Council of States Hannes Germann and President of the National Council Ruedi Lustenberger.
The Kuwaiti delegation consists of MPs Ahmed Lari, Hamoud Al-Hamdan, Abdullah Al-Mayouf, Mohammad Al-Enezi, Mohammed Al-Barrak and Dr Yousef AlZalzalah. (KUNA) — See Also Page 2 Shaibani presents credentials: Kuwaiti Ambassador to Australia and New Zealand Khaled Al-Shaibani presented his credentials to the Governor-General of Papua New Guinea Sir Michael Ogio as a non-resident ambassador in a ceremony that was held in the capital Port Moresby.
Al-Shaibani told KUNA Monday that Ogio expressed his appreciation to the efforts exerted by Kuwait Fund for Arab Economic Development (KFAED) for supporting developmental projects in his country during the 1980s. He added that bilateral relations have been ever flourishing in all domains since then.
Diplomatic ties between Kuwait and Papua New Guinea were established in 1975. (KUNA) Appropriate decisions vital: The Secretary General of Kuwait Youth Association Ali Al-Salem and Chairperson of the Media Committee Hanadi Al-Holi affirmed, during an interview with the daily, that the association is working on urging the concerned authorities to take appropriate decisions regarding issues that affect the youths, as many decisions taken by them are not consistent with the country’s policy for the youths.
They indicated that many of the youth and student organizations in the country are not recognized due to the unsuitable conditions allotted by the concerned authorities for organizing the work of these organizations, revealing their concern about the lack of a clear mechanism for controlling the volunteer groups and youth organizations.
They also revealed that the announcement of an official from Ministry of Higher Education regarding the possibility of increasing the required G.P.A for high school graduates to attain scholarships to study abroad is illogical and inconsistent with the policy of increasing the number of
these scholarships to 6,000. ‘Brothers’ meet: Third rank Muslim Brotherhood members in Kuwait, including former and current board members of some co-op societies, held a meeting in Rawda recently to discuss ways of dealing with the governmental pressure to guarantee continuity of the group’s agenda, reports Al-Shahed daily quoting reliable sources.
The same sources noted the members who attended the meeting were divided in opinion, as the first group suggested establishing a new group with a national identity to carry out new task, and the other group suggested that shunning away from political activities until the atmosphere calms down will facilitate an epic comeback of the group for a successful implementation of its agenda.
Sources indicated the gathering yielded no positive result due to altercations, and in the end, discussions was postponed until Aug 26 in the Diwaniya of a first rank Brotherhood leader at Zahra.
