Disgruntle­d cleaning company workers seek backpay, justice

Kuwaiti held with liquor: A Kuwaiti citizen was arrested in Hawally area in possession of four narcotic pills and three bottles of liquor.

According to security sources, Hawally securityme­n were patrolling the area when they stopped a man for checking and detected the stench of alcohol from him. They checked his vehicle and found 4 narcotic pills and 3 liquor bottles.

He was referred to the concerned authoritie­s for necessary legal action against him.

Meanwhile, a Kuwaiti citizen was arrested on Fahaheel Road in possession of a sachet of heroin, three sachets of ‘Shabu’ drug, eight ‘Rosh’ narcotic pills and three pills of an unidentifi­ed drug.

Agencies KUWAIT CITY, Aug 26: Two managers and dozens of employees working for one of the cleaning companies reportedly refused to go to work and stayed put at their accommodat­ion in Hassawi because the company has not paid them their salaries for two months, reports Al-Qabas daily.

The daily added, some of them even complained that the company is refusing to grant them annual leave and that some of them have not visited their families for the past eight or nine years.

The workers also complained that they are deprived of their basic rights, particular­ly any sort of leave, even in the event of death of close relative including father and mother.

The workers say if they apply for one month leave they are required to deposit with the company KD 120 and for two months KD 240.

This is in addition to forcing them to sign a document prior to proceeding on leave stating they have received all their dues.

investigat­ions. Drugs found on trio: The Special Task Force has arrested three young Kuwaitis, including a policeman, for possessing and consuming drugs, reports Al-Watan Arabic daily.

The trio was taken into custody for reckless driving along a road in Riqqa and while issuing a citation police discovered the men were abnormal.

Police have reportedly seized from the men cigarettes filled with hashish, a small quantity of shabu and drug consuming tools.

The same police have also arrested an unidentifi­ed person driving a 4-wheeler in Jabriya for driving his vehicle without the front number plate and possessing narcotic pills.

He stressed the Education and Training Sector endeavors to recruit qualified personnel to work in various security sectors, while the security job necessitat­es continuous search for new techniques to cope with change or emergency cases.

He noted registrati­on for the police training program will start on Aug 31 until Sept 8, affirming that Sheikh Mohammad and other ministry officials highly recommend the course in updating security activities to improve performanc­e in different fields.
