Britain reads Islam

WHEN British Interior Minister Theresa May quoted some verses from the Holy Quran to prove that Islam is a religion of tolerance and dialogue, not violence; some questions immediately came to mind: Does fear of the terrorists’ influence the main reason behind Great Britain’s change of ‘skin’? Will the issue be limited to punishing British nationals who belong to DAESH and other terrorist groups in accordance with the 660-year-old law? Will it reach the phase of closing doors and media pulpits to those who claim to be the opposition that escaped from oppression in their country? Britain has granted them political asylum; thereby, opening its territories to provide them with safe shelters and training camps for extremists like Jordanian Abu Qatada, Egyptian Abu Hamza, Syrian Omar Bakri or the Saudi and Bahraini terrorists who continue to engage in terrorism and fraudulent acts while provoking chaos and sectarian conflicts under the protection of their authorities. The minister quoted these two verses from the Holy

Quran: First, “O mankind, indeed we have created you male and female, and made you peoples and tribes that you may know one another. Indeed, the most noble of you in the sight of Allah is the most righteous of you. Indeed, Allah is Knowing and Acquainted.” Second, “There shall be no compulsion in [acceptance of] religion.”

This means the minister has realized that the religion, whose followers are committed to these two verses, cannot produce terrorists. In addition, the doors of London were opened to corrupt religious and intellectual people whose minds are polluted. However, they have nothing to do with the real Islam. What Saudi Arabia, Bahrain and some other Arab countries said about these people earlier was true but arrogance prevented the British from admitting this.

Undoubtedly, Britain carries a huge responsibility in this respect because it did not realize the danger posed by the monster, which was bred under its patronage with the slogan, ‘Protecting Human Rights’. This was evident when the incumbent British Prime Minister said, “Whenever there is a threat against national security, nobody talks to me about human rights.”

Therefore, if Britain is serious in its bid to protect itself from extremism and terrorism, it should deport all terrorists who are still enjoying its protection. It should shut down their media pulpits. It must take the first step to dry out the intellectual and financial resources of terrorists.

We wish the minister was there when the United Kingdom opened its doors to intellectual and religious people engaged in corrupt activities. She would have saved her country, the Arabs and Muslims from such suffering. She would have curbed the spread of terrorism. We express appreciation for the minister for taking such a stand, but it is still necessary to get rid of the remaining terrorists to resume the journey correctly.
