Three Syrian suspects in spoilt meat case ‘bailed’
KUWAIT CITY, Oct 19: The Administrative Court presided over by Justice Nasser Al-Athari obliged Ministry of Higher Education and the Director of Certificates Equivalency Department to endorse M.A degree earned by a student from the American University in Athena.
Attorney of the plaintiff Sultan AlAjmi said his client obtained his B.A in Marine Engineering from Alexandria University, Egypt, in 2007 and continued his M.A. studies in the Faculty of Sciences at American University of Athena from 2009 to 2010. However, the department refused to accredit his degree after completing the required procedures. 3 Syrians freed: Detention Renewal Judge released three Syrian suspects in the spoilt meat case on KD 1000 bail per person.
Also, the judge decided to renew the detention of two other suspects — an Egyptian national and a Bedoun in Central Jail for 10 days, based on a complaint filed by Ministry of Defense accusing them of selling expired food.
Defense Attorney of the suspects, Sultan Al-Tawalah, urged the court to release his clients as there are no justifications for keeping them under protective custody, adding he will disprove the accusations and press for acquittal of his clients. ‘Rallyists’ jailed: The Misdemeanor Court, presided over by Judge Badr AlEnezi, sentenced five citizens to one month in prison with hard labor for participating in an unlicensed rally in solidarity with former MP Musallam Al-Barrak when he was arrested and defying police orders to disperse during the rally which started in Andalus.
Case files indicate the Public Prosecution had charged the accused with participating in a gathering aimed at disturbing public peace and order, in addition to participating in an unlicensed rally which disrupted traffic flow and defying dispersal orders given by police officers tasked to deal with the situation. Fake Twitter account: Lawyer Areej Hamada has filed a complaint with the police accusing an unidentified person of using her name to tweet on the social networking website, reports Al-Shahed daily.
The lawyer said she has only one account and is not responsible for any tweets posted on the fake account.
