His Highness Amir congratula­tes Qadsia SC on AFC Cup win

Title ‘valuable gift’: KFA chief ‘It was definitely consensual’

KUWAIT CITY, Oct 19, (KUNA): His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah AlAhmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah sent on Sunday a congratula­tory cable to Board Chairman of Qadsia SC Sheikh Khaled Fahad Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah on the club’s football team winning of the Asian Football Confederat­ion ( AFC) Cup of 2014.

In his cable, His Highness the Amir praised Qadsia’s achievemen­t and the club officials and players’ efforts to elevate the flag of Kuwait high at regional and internatio­nal sports events. His Highness the Amir also wished them all more success and prominence.

His Highness the Crown Prince Sheikh Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber AlSabah and His Highness the Prime Minister Sheikh Jaber Al-Mubarak AlHamad Al-Sabah sent similar congratula­tory cables to Qadsia Chairman SC Sheikh Khaled Fahad Al-Ahmad AlJaber Al-Sabah.

Kuwait’s Qadsia was crowned 2014 AFC Cup champions on Saturday after winning a penalty shoot-out 4-2 against Iraq’s Irbil following a goalless draw at Maktoum bin Rashed Al-Maktoum Stadium in Dubai.

Qadsia have been runners-up twice over the last four years, and lost out on the title last year to their local rivals, Kuwait SC, which won the last two editions.

Meanwhile, National Assembly Speaker Marzouq Al-Ghanim sent on Sunday a congratula­tory cable to Board Chairman of Qadsia club Sheikh Khaled Fahad Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah on the club’s football team winning of the Asian Football Confederat­ion ( AFC) Cup of 2014.

Hailing the sports achievemen­t, the speaker said Qadsia players properly and greatly represente­d Kuwaiti football sport in the championsh­ip.

He wished the Kuwaiti club more achievemen­ts and successes which would be certainly in the interest of the Kuwaiti sports sector in general.

In related story, Kuwait Football Associatio­n (KFA) President Sheikh Talal Fahad Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah praised AFC Cup champions Qadsia, who became champions for the first time in their third final in five years on Saturday.

The title maintains Kuwaiti dominance over the competitio­n for the third year in a row, after Kuwait SC took their second and third record titles over the last two editions.

Sheikh Talal described the accomplish­ment as a “valuable gift” to fans of the club, and told reporters he dedicates the win to His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah.
