Students are our pride: Al-Essa
WASHINGTON , May 3, (KUNA): Minister of Education and Minister of Higher Education Dr Bader Hamad AlEssa has urged Kuwaiti students in Canada to benefit the most of their studies overseas to assist development at home later.
Addressing the second national conference of Kuwaiti students in Canada, Al-Essa stressed the high quality of education in the country as well as the distinguished level of universities, which offers incentives for making the best use of studying there.
Later in the future, Kuwaiti students will contribute to the development of the various sectors in their country, the Minister told the event held under “Humanitarian Ambassadors,” in recognition of the UN honoring of His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber AlSabah as “Humanitarian Leader.” “You are our pride and ambassadors overseas and I am certain that you will be home armed with science and culture for industrious work to carry on with the march of building for our nation,” the Minister noted.
Minister Al-Essa lauded students’ diligence despite difficulties, topped with being away from families and loved ones in Kuwait.
A host of cultural and social activities were held on Saturday as part of the conference, as well as meetings with officials from the Kuwaiti Ministry of Higher Education, the State Ministry for Youth Affairs and Kuwait Foundation for the Advancement of Sciences — KFAS, as well as companies sponsoring the event.
Meanwhile, Minister AlEssa, and Kuwait Cultural Attache in Canada Dr Fahad Al-Nasser will open the new headquarters of the National Union of Kuwait Students Canada in Ottawa on Monday, NUKS Canada VicePresident Khaled Al-Busairi told KUNA earlier.
Also: KUWAIT CITY: The Ministry of Education’s Foreign Contracts Committee, headed by Director of Farwaniya Educational District Badria Al-Khaldi and is currently on a recruitment mission to Egypt, has requested for three days extension to complete their assignment satisfactorily, reports Al-Jaridah daily.
A source said the committee that went to Jordan for similar purpose in April employed 200 male and female teachers with the fields of specialization specified by the ministry. He disclosed the ministry needs 500 male and female teachers with different fields of specialization, so the remaining number is expected to be covered in Egypt after the 200 recruited in Jordan. He affirmed the ministry will issue a decision to extend days of recruitment in Egypt for another three days, so the committee will complete its task by May 12.
