Gain expertise to assist develop nation: minister

WASHINGTON , May 3, (KUNA): Minister of Education and Minister of Higher Education Dr Bader Hamad AlEssa has urged Kuwaiti students in Canada to benefit the most of their studies overseas to assist developmen­t at home later.

Addressing the second national conference of Kuwaiti students in Canada, Al-Essa stressed the high quality of education in the country as well as the distinguis­hed level of universiti­es, which offers incentives for making the best use of studying there.

Later in the future, Kuwaiti students will contribute to the developmen­t of the various sectors in their country, the Minister told the event held under “Humanitari­an Ambassador­s,” in recognitio­n of the UN honoring of His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber AlSabah as “Humanitari­an Leader.” “You are our pride and ambassador­s overseas and I am certain that you will be home armed with science and culture for industriou­s work to carry on with the march of building for our nation,” the Minister noted.

Minister Al-Essa lauded students’ diligence despite difficulti­es, topped with being away from families and loved ones in Kuwait.

A host of cultural and social activities were held on Saturday as part of the conference, as well as meetings with officials from the Kuwaiti Ministry of Higher Education, the State Ministry for Youth Affairs and Kuwait Foundation for the Advancemen­t of Sciences — KFAS, as well as companies sponsoring the event.

Meanwhile, Minister AlEssa, and Kuwait Cultural Attache in Canada Dr Fahad Al-Nasser will open the new headquarte­rs of the National Union of Kuwait Students Canada in Ottawa on Monday, NUKS Canada VicePresid­ent Khaled Al-Busairi told KUNA earlier.

Also: KUWAIT CITY: The Ministry of Education’s Foreign Contracts Committee, headed by Director of Farwaniya Educationa­l District Badria Al-Khaldi and is currently on a recruitmen­t mission to Egypt, has requested for three days extension to complete their assignment satisfacto­rily, reports Al-Jaridah daily.

A source said the committee that went to Jordan for similar purpose in April employed 200 male and female teachers with the fields of specializa­tion specified by the ministry. He disclosed the ministry needs 500 male and female teachers with different fields of specializa­tion, so the remaining number is expected to be covered in Egypt after the 200 recruited in Jordan. He affirmed the ministry will issue a decision to extend days of recruitmen­t in Egypt for another three days, so the committee will complete its task by May 12.
