Population imbalance, security tied

-

KUWAIT CITY, May 3: Minister of Social Affairs and Labor Hind Al-Sabeeh said the recommendations of the government committee in charge of addressing the lopsided population issue have been forwarded to the relevant committees at the Council of Ministers for review and deliberation, reports Al-Rai daily.

The minister disclosed the ministerial committees will then submit their reports to the council for proper action.

Commenting on the issue, Chairperson of the Interior and Defense Committee in the National Assembly MP Abdullah AlMayouf pointed out the need to present recommendations concerning the population imbalance to the committee, since the Contract in Q1 ’16: Minister of State for Housing Affairs Yasser Abul said Sunday that a contract for Al-Mitlaa residential city project is to be signed in the first quarter of 2016.

Speaking to reporters following a parliament session on housing, the minister said that the project would contribute to eliminating the so-called “residential crisis” in the country, with 30,000 residential units as the first 12,000 are to be distributed during the time period 2015/2016.

The distribution process is to be conducted on a monthly basis as the first phase is to begin on August 2015, with 1,500 residential units included, and is to be completed by March 2016 with a total of 12,000 distributed units, he added.

The Public Authority for Housing Welfare had opened housing privatization for Al-Mitlaa project on April 26th, the Kuwaiti Minister noted, adding that the project is one of the most significant in the region as it’s the ministry’s first projects within the government action program to be followed by other residential projects such as South Saad Al-Abdullah and Khairan areas.

He also stressed the government and the parliament’s keenness to solve the housing issue realistically, noting that Al-Mitlaa project is expected to consume one third of the country’s electric power, by around 5,000 megawatts. (KUNA)

Diabetes raises concern: Assistant issue is related to national security. He asserted any lapses emanating from such a situation will reflect on the security of the country.

On the other hand, MP Abdullah AlTamimi commended the government for its efforts in reducing the number of expatriate workers. He said the move is in line with a draft bill he submitted in the previous and present legislative terms. He argued the bill is necessary since the number of expatriates is now double the population of citizens. He asserted such a situation puts pressure on general services provided by the government, adding “I have submitted a copy of the draft bill to the social affairs and labor minister.”
