‘Mosque’s bombing underlines necessity of national unity’

Such terrorist acts target the whole social fabric of Kuwait: Barjas

KUWAIT CITY, June 29, (KUNA): Two sports officials have affirmed necessity of national unity in face of terrorism, which has recently hit Imam Al-Sadiq Mosque in the center of Kuwait City claiming lives of 27 people and wounding 227 others.

Walid Aman, board chairman of the Kuwaiti Volleyball Federation, lauded in remarks to KUNA solidarity manifested by the Kuwaiti people in aftermath of the Friday bombing that targeted the mosque. “Such terrorist acts are rejected by religions and morals, they have been perpetrate­d by persons of fragile faith, lured by deviant slogans.” he said.

Dhari Barjas, secretary of the Basketball Federation, said such terror- ist acts target the whole social fabric of Kuwait and intend to foment sectariani­sm. “The Kuwaiti people have proven through their stand in one line behind the political leadership that they do not subjugate to terrorist acts aimed at underminin­g the national unity.

“The people are united behind the political leadership and His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah.” Kuwait witnessed a horrific event on Friday, when a lone suicide attacker blew himself up amid worshipper­s inside the mosque in downtown Kuwait. The incident has prompted leaders and ordinary citizens to affirm that it would only lead to closer bonds among the people of the country.
