Kuwait-bound KAC plane in emergency landing

-

KUWAIT CITY, June 29: A Kuwait Airways plane from New York to Kuwait was forced to make an emergency landing at London Heathrow this morning.

Flight KU188 is believed to have signalled the emergency over Belgium, and turned back to land in the UK.

A spokesperson for Heathrow Airport has since confirmed to MailOnline Travel that the diversion was due to a medical emergency on board.

And a spokesperson for the Met Police added: ‘It was a medical emergency con- cerning a 69-year-old woman who was taken ill on board.

“It was a standard emergency procedure; the lady has to be taken off the plane in this kind of situation.

“We believe she is receiving medical attention at this time, and the plane is expected to resume it’s journey to Kuwait.”

Flight tracking data showed the plane make a u-turn over Europe, and head back over the Channel.

The plane was a Boeing 777-200 and had a scheduled land time in Kuwait of 9.25pm (BST).

Al Jazeera have reportedly said the landing was forced due to an outbreak of food poisoning on board.

This has also been declared the reason by Russia Today UK news, who took to Twitter to report it.

Sky’s Tom Parmenter told the news channel: “It is something because of that terror attack in Kuwait yesterday, there is more reason to take note of a Kuwait bound jet turning round over Europe in midair and landing in London.”
