Court acquits Kharafi, crew of Yawm’s ‘Talk Shock’ show
KUWAIT CITY, June 29: The Criminal Court acquitted former Municipal Council member Khalifa Al-Kharafi with crew of the show on Al-Yawm channel ‘Talk Shock’ of degrading the constitution in a lawsuit filed by the Ministry of Information.
Al-Kharafi was accused of degrading the Kuwaiti constitution when he said in an interview that the constitution only improves after 50 years.
In the last court session, Lawyer Hassan Al-Mosawi affirmed that AlKharafi respects the constitution which was instituted by late Amir Sheikh Abdullah Al-Salem. However, he disrespects those who delay the country’s development and laws by inciting chaos in the country, and such people should be dumped in history.
He defended his client denying the accusation, and stressed the defendant has always protected freedoms and public funds, and even if he was tough on the issue of constitution, it’s for the benefit of the public since he was talking about defending the country and constitution all through the show.
acquitted: The Criminal Court presided over by Justice Waleed Al-Kandari acquitted a Kuwaiti resident of Ardiya area of possessing weapon and ammunitions without legal authorization.

The defendant was charged for possessing a weapon without license from the Ministry of Interior as he went shooting in Ardiya in the company of another person.
In his defense, lawyer Abdul Mohsen Al-Qattan affirmed that proofs and evidences submitted in the investigations were invalid and inconsistent, and proving his client’s innocence.
Bu Yabes jailed: The Criminal Court sentenced Hamid Bu Yabes to one year in prison with KD 500 fine to stop execution of the verdict on the state security case in which he is charged for issuing statement deemed offensive to the Crown Prince of Dubai and UAE.
Earlier, the court decided to release the accused on bail bond of KD 200 after he put the relationship between the two countries on the line by posting on his personal Twitter page statement deemed offensive to the Crown Prince of Dubai Sheikh Hamdan Bin Mohammad Bin Rashid. He is said to have published a photo of Sheikh Hamdan while he was eating in a restaurant and surrounded by many people taking shots of him.
In a related issue, the sentence renewal judge ordered the release of Ali Al-Barrak, Saoud Al-Quheidi and Hamoud Al-Sharida on personal guarantee.
The three accused were held in the public prison for investigations for sheltering former MP Musallam AlBarrak in the case in which 15 other citizens are involved.
The Public Prosecution released the majority of suspects, including the relatives and friends of Musallam AlBarrak, on KD 500 bail per person.
