Al-Rubayan stars in powerboating Champ’ship
KUWAIT CITY, June 29, (KUNA): Kuwaiti Yusuf Al-Rubayan won first place in the second round of the 2015 Union Internationale Motonautique (UIM) F-1 H2O World Championship for powerboating, held in the French city Evian.
Al-Rubayan in a telephone call with KUNA, expressed content for this achievement, by placing the flag of his country in top spot, and through winning the second place at kick off of the championship and first place at the conclusion of this round, which included participation of 19 boats representing 10 countries.
Al-Rubayan, who is also the champion of F-2 world champion for powerboating, thanked the judging committee for amendments they made to the final results.
Al-Rubayan explained that the committee discovered that the Abu Dhabi team has setup a different boat engine, which was illegal and canceled their result.
The committee also found Finnish star Sami Selio of the Mad Croc Baba Team who battled his way from fifth off the dock and fighting his way to the runner-up position thinking he had just gained 15 valuable championship points until. He was given a one lap penalty after officials penalized him for destroying a buoy on the circuit sending him off the podium and down to fifth place in the order.
The Kuwaiti driver also praised his technical crew for preparing the boat in the United States and also for making some technical amendments to the engine to withstand power of this race.
Al-Rubayan added that the 10 participating teams were tough, and the championship was exceptional and powerful.
The Kuwaiti champion Abdullah AlFadhel has won three cups in the fourth round of the US seasonal jet-ski championship held in Saint George, Utah.
Al-Fadhel told KUNA by telephone that he had come first in the open and stock competitions, second in the modified category, all at the professionals’ level.
The champion has recently won three cups in the third round of the tournament, held in Nevada.
He was crowned champion of the modified and stock competitions in the 2013 season.
