KUWAIT CITY, Oct 29: MPs Ahmed Al-Qudaibi and Khalil Al-Saleh are said to have prepared a grilling request against Minister of Oil and Minister of State for National Assembly Affairs Ali Al-Omair, according to a parliamentary source.

The source said the MPs have based their request on two key issues — violations committed in the oil sector and the irregularities witnessed in possession of agricultural land.

However, the source explained the interpellation will not be filed before the next regular session of the National Assembly.

In a related issue, MP Ouda Al-Ruwaiee said it is time to hold both the executive and the legislature responsible for the legislations we passed should have been implemented.

Reforms

He stressed on the need to implement economic reforms and explore other sources of income while at the same time putting emphasis on human investment factor.

On the issue of interpellation, Al-Ruwaiee explained the interpellation is a constitutional tool through which an MP holds a minister responsible for his actions and called on the MPs to evaluate the stage that comes after the interpellation.

Meanwhile, Chairman of the Finance and Economic Affairs Committee MP Faisal AlShaye informed the committee will announce the date for the next meeting with the Ministry of Finance. The meeting will be attended by the Budget Committee of the National Assembly to discuss mechanisms of covering the budget deficit.

He added the discussion will center on agreement to borrow money, issue bonds or withdraw from the reserve funds. He pointed out all this will be discussed with the government so that the government provides a complete perception.

In terms of the legislative packages that will be discussed and approved during the current session Al-Shaye stressed the Finance Committee will coordinate with the Priorities Committee.

He added the committee is waiting for the government to come out with laws on Sukuk, instruments and the real estate registry so that they are discussed as a prelude to their vote and approval.

Meanwhile, Speaker of the

Parliament, Marzouq Ali Al-Ghanim chaired Thursday Executive Committee meeting of the Parliamentary Division during which a number of topics on the agenda were discussed.

The meeting was attended by ViceChairman of Parliamentary Division MP Faisal Al-Shaye, Secretary of Division MP Ouda Al-Ruwaiee, Treasurer of the Division MP Saleh Ashour and members of the Division MPs Khalil Abdullah, Saif Al-Azmi, Madhi Al-Hajiri and the Secretary-General of the National Assembly Alam Al-Kandari.
