KUWAIT CITY, Oct 29: Six of the 10 female employees of the Ministry of Information Government Press who visited the Al-Rai daily offices complained of sexual harassment by fellow employees — expatriates and Kuwaitis, reports AlRai daily.

The six employees told the daily they have been harassed by their colleagues at work and some technicians. They even said one of them was blackmailed into approving the attendance and authoriza- tion for bonus and overtime pay and even sign excellent work reports.

The complainants have appealed to the Minister of Information and Minister of State for Youth Affairs Sheikh Salman AlHamoud to pay a visit to the printing press and listen firsthand to the complaints.

They added, they had filed a complaint with the Director of the minister’s office but no action has been taken.

The complainants asserted that the number of female staff is 10 in the print- ing press out of a total of 190 employees. They added, the shift gets over at 12:00 noon but they are made to stay until 1:45 pm. They also said after 12:00 noon no official is seen on the premises but only the cleaning workers.

One of them complained that one of the technicians had molested her and when she filed a complaint with the director of the Printing Press, he remained silent until her father came to the press and insulted the technician.
