Embassy attempts to make Kuwait free from Indonesian overstayers
91 nationals repatriated in Oct
KUWAIT CITY, Oct 29: On the 28th October of 2015 Ambassador Tatang Budie Utama Razak led the ceremony marking the repatriation of the 91 Indonesian overstayers in Kuwait after being sheltered a week at the Embassy.
During the period of January to October 2015, the Embassy has been repatriating 323 Indonesian overstayers and another 289 are still on going process. Embassy is working closely with all related parties in Kuwait to overcome the problem of overstayers.
Ambassador Tatang stated that this programme is a policy from the government of Indonesia to repatriate all Indonesian overstayers around the world, and the government of Indonesia is not only ready to pay all the expenses of all Indonesian overstayers repatriation, but following their arrival in Indonesia they will be empowered by providing the training, and also will be given financial assistant to begin their activity on their entrepreneurship.

Kuwait Immigration in 2015 there are 8,887 Indonesians in Kuwait where 5,499 among them are domestic workers, and the rest are professional and formal workers and their families. The Indonesian overstayers in Kuwait are estimated to be less than 1,000. By the end of next year is expected that there will be no more Indonesian overstayers in Kuwait. Meanwhile there are 30 people in the Embassy’s shelter in the year 2015, this number decreased significantly since the Embassy has taken necessary steps to ensure and take care seriously of all Indonesians in Kuwait, and working closely with the relevant authorities in Kuwait.
Ambassador Tatang hopes that the bilateral relations between Indonesia and Kuwait will be more fruitful in the field of economy realizing the potential owned by the two countries. Last September, both Ministers of Foreign Affairs met in New York at the sidelines of the General Assembly of the United Nations where they agreed to increase the economic relations between the two countries.
“The protection of world trademarks at the local market is the sole way to safeguard the level of food and medicine quality and safety which matter so much to consumers’ health,” he said in a statement to KUNA.
Sounding the alarm about the imitation of trademarks, Sheikh Salman Al-Dawood said his society has recently monitored that this phenomenon has been widespread at the local market, making it very difficult for consumers to spot the difference between real and fake commodities.
Therefore, the society’s chairman called for launching a public awareness campaign purposed to caution consumers against the adverse impacts of fake commodities.
Citing fake auto spare parts in particular as a serious example for the imitation of international trademarks, he stressed the significance of overhauling intellectual property rights laws with a view to reining in this grave phenomenon.
The Ministry of Interior has notified the Ministry of Commerce and Industry to ban the import of cars which are subsequently used by motorists to organize stunt shows, reports AlRai daily.
The daily quoting ministry sources said these cars are specially built with powerful engines to help them stand the test of time during ‘illegal’ shows on public roads.
The daily added, a similar decision was issued by Minister of Finance Anas Al-Saleh when he was minister of Commerce and Industry.
However, the Ministry of Commerce has formed a committee which will be headed by the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Interior to follow up the issue.
