EPA launches Kuwait-SKorea co-op forum
KUWAIT CITY, Oct 29, (KUNA): Director General of the Environment Public Authority (EPA) Sheikh Abdullah Ahmad Al-Sabah launched here on Thursday, with the attendance of South Korean Assistant Minister of Environment, and South Korean Ambassador to Kuwait Kim Kyung Sik the KuwaitiSouth Korean Cooperation Forum.
EPA’s Director General said in a speech that Kuwait has significantly contributed to the protection of local and regional environment, upon the instructions of His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad AlJaber Al-Sabah, and with direct follow-up by His Highness the Prime Minister Sheikh Jaber Al-Mubarak Al-Hamad AlSabah.
EPA is responsible for settling and applying the general policy of protecting the environment, besides the sustainable development strategies, besides supporting environmental researches and studies, as well as settling the framework for environmental educating program, as well as spreading environmental awareness, he said.
The strategic cooperation between both nations in protecting the environment and sustainable development is the theme of the joint seminar, reflecting the deep-rooted bilateral ties between Kuwait and South Korea, he affirmed.
Such ties are thriving and developing, especially in the private sector, as a large number of South Korean companies have contributed to the establishment of many infrastructure projects in Kuwait, EPA’s Director General added.
He expressed his deepest thanks to all of the organizers of the event, wishing that the visit of the South Korean delegation to Kuwait would be successful and fruitful.
