Kuwait wins 32nd place in govt competitiveness
SEOUL, Oct 29, (KUNA): The State of Kuwait has won the 32nd ranking in the Government Competitiveness that measures the performance in seven fields; economy, environment, food, agriculture, health and welfare, education and governance.
The Center for Government Competitiveness ( CGC) at Seoul National University revealed the results that included 89 countries, which are not member of Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), in a forum held Thursday in the presence of Kuwait’s Ambassador to Korea Jassim Mohammad AlBedaiwi and a number of foreign ambassadors, academics and economists.
Kuwait came first in food and agriculture, and won the tenth place in economy, 26th place in information technology, 36th place in environment and 39th place in health and welfare, 43rd place in governance and 63rd place in education, Ho-Young Kim, a professor at the university, said.
On his part, the ambassador showed the points of strength in Kuwait, saying it has the fifth place in the non-member of the OECD based on the results of GDP, inflation rate, foreign reserves and government activities.
He added that Kuwait has a positive credit rating by Fitch, Moody’s, Standard Poor’s, which are major companies that publish financial research and analysis.
He explained the government efforts in addressing points of weakness in economy and education, and combating corruption, noting that it pays much attention to diversify economy instead of depending only on oil through the 2035 Vision which includes five-year economic plans. The State established an AntiCorruption Authority, he stated. He points out that Kuwait adopts education policy seeking to provide opportunities to all children.
