LOS ANGELES:

James Vanderbilt’s “Memogate” movie “Truth,” Lenny Abrahamson’s “Room,” and Sarah Gavron’s Meryl Streep- starrer “Suffragette” are among titles with early awards buzz set to launch into the Middle East via the Dubai Film Festival’s Cinema of The World platform.

Rounding out its selection the Dubai section dedicated to the creme of the global cinema crop now also comprises crimer “The Clan,” Argentina’s foreign-language Oscar contender directed by Pablo Trapero which Fox will release in the US; Kamal Swaroop’s docu “The Battle for Benaras,” about elections in India; Australian director Simon Stone’s Geoffrey Rushstarrer “The Daughter”; and Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy and Andy Schocken’s Pakistan- set music doc “Song of Lahore.”

Other additions are Russian auteur Alexander Sokurov’s “Francofonia”; “The Endless River” by South Africa’s Oliver Hermanus; Romanian director Corneliu Porumboiu’s comedy “The Treasure”; and Australian multihyphenate Jeremy Sims’ road trip towards euthanasia movie “Last Cab to Darwin.”

Section topper Nashen Moodley said in a statement his selection urges Dubai’s multiethnic auds “to step outside of their comfort zone and see something different.” A rep for the fest declined to specify if any talents or directors will be in attendance along with these pics, though a few are expected to make the trek.
