Kuwait’s National Arabian Horse Festival will be launched here Friday under the auspices of His Highness the Crown Prince Sheikh Nawaf AlAhmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah featuring the beauty of the local hybrids, with the participat­ion of 264 pure Arab horses.

The two-day event, organized by the Arabian Horse Center, and headed by Sheikha Sarah Fahad Al-Duaij AlSabah will also include launching a second championsh­ip for Egyptian horses on November 20, with the participat­ion of 162 pure Arabian horses, as this venue is restricted only to Kuwaiti horse stalls.

Member of the organizing committee Khaled Al-Fahad said in press remarks today that the Arabian Horse Center has settled all the needed preparatio­ns for the upcoming event.

The center will also organize other three festivals at national, Arab, and internatio­nal levels, he said.

The center is keen to provide the festival with the best internatio­nal juries, besides organizing the competitio­ns during holidays to allow people to attend and enjoy this event, he said. (KUNA)

UNESCO approves ‘center’:

The 38th session of UNESCO’s General Assembly have approved Kuwait’s proposal on establishi­ng an internatio­nal center of excellence in disabiliti­es, which aim at educating the disabled through informatio­n and telecommun­ication technologi­es.

Forming such a center in the State of Kuwait is a source of pride for all Kuwaitis, and reflects its pioneering status in the humanitari­an action and social developmen­t, Dr Mishaal Hayat, Kuwait’s permanent envoy to UNESCO, told KUNA.

Hayat extended most congratula­tions to His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, government and people of Kuwait for the achievemen­t, indicating that such a step would hoist Kuwait’s name higher in internatio­nal arenas.

His Highness the Amir’s generous donation of USD one million to establish the center in Kuwait reflects keenness in supporting UNESCO’s main activities in education, he said.

Pediatric confab kicks off:

The second edition of Pediatric Conference kicked off, on Thursday, with an internatio­nal participat­ion.

The three-day event, under the slogan of “Future Vision,” is organized by Health Ministry to elevate health services offered to children.

Secretary General of Kuwait Institute for Medical Specializa­tion (KIMS) Dr Ibrahim Hadi told KUNA that pediatric medicine has become a national priority in order to raise healthy generation­s for better advancemen­t of the country.

He lauded pediatric department at AlSabah Hospital for its great achievemen­ts since its establishm­ent in 1963. On her part, head of the Conference and head of Pediatric Department at Al-Sabah Hospital Dr Iman Al-Oneizi said that the conference will see 35 lectures and 4 workshops on various aspects of children medicine.

She added that 29 medical experts from Kuwait, Canada, US, Germany, Switzerlan­d, Saudi Arabia and UAE will speak at the event. (KUNA)
