KUWAIT CITY, Nov 12: Employees registered on government contracts are not allowed to transfer to private sector as per regulations, says Minister of Social Affairs and Labor, the State Minister for Planning and Development Affairs Hend Al-Subaih.

She indicated the recent decision regarding the transfer of government contracts only allows personnel to transfer to the main file of the same employer in private sector based on stipulations that necessitate the employer to present ‘estimation of need’ to justify the transfer of personnel.

In a statement, Al-Subaih indicated the Public Authority for Manpower has not changed its policy for organizing the labor market to sustain the population structure.

She revealed that the sector is studying the possibility of preparing an integrated project to optimize fees paid for bringing in personnel and other services to make the employer and employee feel the value of sums charged for services offered to them.

She refuted rumors which say the sector will be open the door for domestic workers to transfer their residence to private sector subsequent to the recent decision organizing the transfer of workers from one employer to another.

Meanwhile, in an unrelated development, the Environment Public Authority (EPA) has coordinated with Kuwait Municipality regarding preparations for the camping season and allocation of sites for the registration of those who wish to set up their tents, reports Al-Anba daily quoting Deputy Director General of EPA Mohammad Al-Enezi.

Al-Enezi disclosed the authority is supervising steps being taken by the Municipality, affirming inspectors from the two institutions will start checking camping sites by the end of the month to ensure strict compliance with the camping regulations. He cited some of regulations such as avoiding high-voltage and restricted areas and refraining from riding buggies (ATVs) in camping sites.

Acting Director General of Kuwait Municipality Ahmad Al-Manfouhi affirmed that the municipality will soon announce the launch of new camping Speaker of the National Assembly Marzouq Al-Ghanim received here on Thursday the Dean Executive Board of Directors and Executive Director of World Bank Group Hassan Mirza, and his accompanying delegation. The visiting delegation includes the regional director of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), Middle East and North Africa bureau Nader Abudllatif Mohammad, besides head of Kuwait’s bureau Dr Feras Raed, as well as the vice-director

Implementation of the Ministry of Electricity and Water’s project in South Saad Al-Abdullah depends on the results of an environmental study being conducted by Kuwait Institute for Scientific Research (KISR) to determine if the infrastructure of the project will

affect the water reservoir from the bottom of the region, which represents 15 percent of Kuwait’s groundwater reserve and mixed with distilled water from power stations, reports Al-Rai daily quoting sources from the ministry.

Sources revealed the study, once completed, will be submitted to the Services Committee in the Ministers Council that will, in turn, inform the concerned authorities about the results in order to take the necessary measures.

Sources confirmed the ministry is capable of solving the problem related to ground cables and overhead lines, but the water reservoir issue will be addressed only through the environmental study.
