Al-Jabri lauds Islamic Military Alliance

Sabah Al-Ahmad village opens on Saturday

KUWAIT CITY, Dec 17, (KUNA): Deputy Speaker of the Arab Parliament (AP) Mohammad Al-Jabri lauded, on Thursday, the announceme­nt of forming an Islamic Military Alliance to combat terrorism in the region.

The alliance was announced this week by Saudi Defence Minister and Deputy Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman.

The coalition will consist of 34 mainly Muslim countries - including powers such as Egypt and Turkey - to coordinate a fight against “terrorist organizati­ons,” Al-Jabri, who is also member of the Kuwaiti parliament said.

Al-Jaberi urged to fight terrorist line of thought by all means necessary, whether that be through military operations, media outlets or through public lectures and events.

He added that forming this alliance is “historic” and a “gamechange­r” that would ensure stability and security in the region.

Arab countries such as Qatar and the UAE will join the coalition, as well as Middle Eastern, Asian and African states including Pakistan, Malaysia, and Nigeria.

Military operations, under this alliance, would work in accordance with local laws and in cooperatio­n with the internatio­nal community.

The Sabah Al-Ahmad village will open its doors officially Saturday as part of the Gulf heritage festival, an event which will begin on Friday and continue on till March 2016.

The festival’s organizing committee said the village, named after His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, will start receiving visitors by tomorrow in a festivity to celebrate the Gulf heritage.

Cattle, camel, and horse shows will be held during the course of the festival in addition to other activities highlighti­ng the culture of the GCC region. The committee thanked all state bodies and partners for their participat­ion in the festival.
