KUWAIT CITY, Dec 17: The security authorities have arrested six Syrians for acquiring the Kuwaiti citizenship in a fraudulent manner, reports Al-Rai daily.
The daily added, the arrests came after the higher authorities received a tip-off from reliable sources and the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior issued directives to the Assistant Undersecretary for Nationality and Passports to look into the issue in coordination with the Intelligence Security Directorate.
According to reports the Syrians reportedly paid KD 52,000 for the Kuwaiti passports and reaped huge benefits although they are strangers. After getting the Kuwaiti passports, they got the Civil ID, applied for marriage loan, housing and one of them was event sent on scholarship to the United States at the expense of the State.
The daily said three men have already been arrested. They are identified as brothers A.R. and N.R. and their cousin S.A., all employees of the Ministry of Defence.
According to security sources investigations proved the main accused knew the Kuwaiti suspect, who is identified only as M.A., in 2000 and he offered to add the names of the two men into his file as his sons in return for KD 15,000 each.
After the men got the Kuwaiti passports and civil IDs, one year later they (N.R. and A.R.) agreed with the same Kuwaiti to add the name of the N.R. into his nationality file for KD 10,000.
The sources pointed out the series of forgeries did not stop at this. After two years of the second forgery, the first accused added the son of his relative to his file in return for KD 12,000 and got the Kuwaiti citizenship.
It has been pointed out the case has been referred to the Public Prosecution.
Swine flu kills child:
A Kuwaiti child suffering from H1N1 died at the Adan Hospital, reports Al-Qabas daily.
According to sources the child is one-and-a-half-year old and was suffering from other health problems in addition to infection with the virus.
He was reportedly rushed to Adan Hospital 20 days ago and was on antibiotics.
The health sources said compulsory vaccination as a precaution has become the need of the hour for all categories of people since people contract the disease during the same time every year.
Woman gang-raped:
Police are looking for three unidentified persons for molesting and raping a young Somali woman, reports Al-Rai daily.
According to the complainant, she was walking along a road in Khaitan and the suspects surprised and forced her into their car and committed the crime.
Offering sex on Net:
The residence permit of an unidentified Indonesian has been cancelled and he has been referred for administrative deportation and an entry ban has been slapped against him, reports Al-Anba daily.
This happened after he was caught by personnel from the vice squad for spreading immorality via the social networking websites.
The daily added, after the e-crimes department came across an advertisement on the Internet, securitymen traced him to a restaurant.
Police then set a trap for him and caught him red-handed after he received KD 20 from a police agent to offer him flesh service.
Indian robbed:
Police are looking for unidentified person for giving electric shock to an Indian, making him unconscious and stealing his wallet and cell phone, reports Al-Shahed daily.
According to the daily, the victim was seen lying unconscious in Wafra. A Kuwaiti pedestrian called the Operations Room of the Ministry of Interior and the man was rushed to a hospital.
Man stabbed:
Investigation men from the Mubarak Al-Kabir Governorate have arrested a Kuwaiti and a Saudi for assaulting and stabbing a compatriot over the sale of a car, reports Al-Rai daily.
According to security sources, the victim has submitted a medical report showing injury in his shoulder and fractures in one of the limbs.
