Seva, Aguilar claim ‘Christmas Cup’ title

Champions Imperialde, Miguel lead all the way in Level B category

By Gwenn Peralta KUWAIT CITY, Dec 17: With the curtain coming down the new takers of the Christmas Cup 2015 crown have proved their mettle. Winning tandem of Joenel Seva and Gerry Aguilar proved their class in Advance Level this season and in the Level B Category Gigi Imperialde and Arnel Miguel brought home the prize. Emily Capati and Eugene Ultra dominated the Level C, while the reigning divas of Level D are Joy Agaloos and Thursday Bunyi.

The championship format and scoring were as follows: Higher and Lower combination for pairing, after the single knockout game was the double knockout game before reaching the finals and points at stake were 15 instead of 21. The friendly competition not only honed the players’ skills but also enriched their characters by promoting unity, friendship and camaraderie in every game and tournament they participated.

Level A

Joenel Seva and Gerry Aguilar did not take chances, starting from the double knockout Game through finals they played with ardor and won all throughout. They fended the championship title by winning against Vasu Srinivas and Gino Gaytano in the finals 15-11, 15-9. During the game proper Joenel and Gerry slammed Allan and Rafiq in the doubles knockout game 15-9, 15-7 and moved on to the quarter-finals and prevailed against their 1st opponent Victor and Joel 15-14, 14-15, 13-15 and smashed their way around Vasu and Gino which earned them a spot for the finals.

Meanwhile, first Runners-up Vasu and Gino made it to the finals by slamming the declared second runners-up Victor Toledo and Joel Gonzaga in the semifinals 15-11, 15-7.

They also triumphed against Nestor and Nato in the double knockout game
