Energy need ‘forum’ ends
AMMAN, Dec 18, (KUNA): The Arab Renewable Energy Commission (AREC) has recommended setting technical criteria for registering companies in the field so as to guarantee quality of services.
The recommendations were made by the end of a three-day forum on investment in renewable energy in the Arab World, held in Amman, attended by representatives from Kuwait, Jordan, Saudi Arabia, the Sudan, UAE, Lebanon, Palestine and Oman, together with foreign experts.
The forum reiterated the importance of specialized companies getting involved in renewable energy, as well as issuing the necessary legislations to guarantee rights of both personnel and consumers, Director of Technical Control Planning and Training Sector, Ministry of Electricity and Water Eng Iqbal Al-Tayyar told KUNA.
In addition, participants formed a committee and tasked it with founding a regional training center for renewable energy and energy efficiency, Al-Tayyar said. The committee includes representatives from Kuwait, Jordan, UAE, Oman, Turkey and the Netherlands.
The would-be center will be entrusted with the promoting the region’s abilities in the field of renewable energy, as well as enhancing the concept of specialization in the sector.
A second committee was formed to encourage investment in the field.
