Kuwait cultural days kick off in Seoul
‘Hollywood of Gulf region’
SEOUL, Dec 18, (KUNA): Kuwait Cultural Days kicked off in the South Korean capital Friday with an aim to boost cultural exchange between the two countries.
The event was inaugurated at the National Theatre of Korea by Kuwaiti Ambassador Jassem Al-Budaiwi, Kwon Hee-seok, Director-General for African and Middle Eastern Affairs at Korean foreign ministry, Jasmine Lee, a Korean MP and a number of Arab and foreign ambassadors.
In an opening speech, the Kuwaiti diplomat expressed joy over showing the Korean audience Kuwait’s rich culture and arts, pointing out the factors behind naming Kuwait “the Hollywood of Gulf region”.
For his part, Mohammad Bin Retha, superintendent of foreign cultural relations at the National Council for Culture, Arts, and Letters (NCCAL), told KUNA that the event is part of Kuwait’s efforts to bolster friendship relations between the two peoples.
The event’s opening ceremony included a short film on Kuwait’s most important landmarks, in addition to a fine arts and popular arts exhibition by artists Fatima Youssef and Hamad AlSaab.
Meanwhile, Youssef Al-Qallaf, a rosaries’ maker, showcased his skills in making the traditional beads to the audience, while Al-Mass popular troupe kept the audience entertained over an hour by playing some of Kuwait’s popular folk and traditional music.

the Society Development Center in Fintas and Ali Sabah Al-Salem areas organized Tuesday an Open Day for the wards of the Elderly Care House and Handicapped Care House headquartered in Fintas.
The event was aimed at encouraging the elderly and the handicapped to enjoy their life, as well as to be involved in all aspects of life.
