Sources said the most prominent act is to withdraw for one year the license of any motorist who commits a breach; drives in a reckless manner or in the opposite direction of roads.

They added GTD is conducting a study to refer motorists who skip the red signal to court, and possibly impose punishment­s reaching imprisonme­nt.

The strike embarked upon by workers at Kuwait Ports Authority (KPA) disrupted six ships from docking at Shuwaikh Port, and 51 ships are stranded in the territoria­l waters, reports Al-Anba daily.

In this context, Chairman of the Union of Workers of KPA Abdullah Al-Sarheed said the strike continued Saturday with increased duration from four hours on Friday to six hours, and only two hours the day before.

Al-Sarheed said “We are waiting for the Director General of KPA Sheikh Yousef Al-Abdullah to make the initiative to communicat­e with the workers to settle their financial dues.” He added the strike will last 24 hours on Sunday.

3 referred to State security:

Rabiya policemen referred three Bahrainis to the State Security to determine if they belong to any extremist groups, reports Al-Shahed daily.

The three suspects were performing Friday prayer at a mosque when they stopped abruptly and tried to get out of the mosque in a suspicious manner, and their behavior raised doubts of the securityme­n assigned to guard the mosque.

A security source said all three suspects became jittery when asked about the reason for stopping the prayer suddenly.

Rings with precious stones seized:

Customs officers at Kuwait Internatio­nal Airport arrested a Kuwaiti citizen returning from Thailand in possession of rings containing precious stones dating back to the middle ages, reports Al-Shahed daily.

The citizen said he purchased the rings but failed to submit any documents proving his ownership. He was referred to relevant authoritie­s. Maj-Gen Al-Mekrad meeting the representa­tives of 12 authoritie­s that participat­ed in ‘
