Suspects flee after stabbing to death youth in road brawl

‘Carpenter’, ‘kebab-maker’ caught giving tuitions

Agencies KUWAIT CITY, Dec 20: In a heinous crime witnessed on the Seventh Ring Road, a 20-year old Bedoun youth was murdered and his companion sustained stab wounds. The perpetrato­rs fled to Saudi Arabia after the incident.

Security sources said the victims were driving on Seventh Ring Road when suddenly another motorist intercepte­d and forced them to pull up. Two people alighted from the vehicle and confronted the victims and accused them of blocking the road and then stabbed them with knives, and fled the scene.

Upon arrival of the rescue team, security sources indicated the victims were drenched in blood, and paramedics confirmed the Bedoun had lost his life after examining them. They pointed out that the father of the first culprit called security officers in Jahra police station and reported his son had murdered someone and fled to Saudi Arabia.

In the meantime, concerned security authoritie­s in Kuwait have addressed their Saudi counterpar­ts to repatriate the culprits to Kuwait to facilitate investigat­ions and allow the law to take its course. The remains of the deceased were deposited to Forensics while the injured person was referred to a hospital for treatment.

Police acting on informatio­n raided a private institute and seized six teachers for violating residence laws, reports Al-Shahed daily.

According to reliable sources the teachers were caught red-handed giving private tuitions in violation of the law and one of them who tried in vain to escape the raiding party by jumping from the first floor of the institute had to be rushed to a hospital with broken leg.

One of those arrested holds a Visa No 18, which shows he is a carpenter and another according to his profession is a ‘kebab’ maker.

Passport officers at the Al-Nuwaiseeb border post recently prevented an unidentifi­ed MP from leaving the country, reports AlShahed daily.

The daily added, the parliament­arian, whose identity has not been revealed is wanted by law in connection with a financial issue worth KD 390,000.

Research items stolen:

Dr Suleiman Al-Jassar of the College of Business Administra­tion at the Kuwait University has affirmed that a member of the Kuwait Prize for Economic and Social Sciences committee has been convicted of intellectu­al piracy, reports Al-Shahed daily.

Dr Jassar said a letter submitted to the Director-General of the Kuwait Institute for Scientific Research (KISR) said the member is accused of submitting pirated document for his scientific research.

Al-Jassar added this is considered as contempt of the value and prestige not only for KISR but also the reputation of Kuwait. The concerned authority is requested to take necessary legal action to protect the reputation of the country and the institutio­n itself.

Double your money:

Police have arrested an unidentifi­ed African for

cheating people by promising to double their money, reports Al-Shahed daily.

A security source the arrest came after a citizen filed a complaint with the Sharq Police Station after he was cheated by the suspect by promising to double his money within 24 hours.

After giving the man $10,000 to change into $20,000, the man shocked to find the man and money gone. The suspect has been referred to the authoritie­s.

Beggars for deportatio­n:

Personnel from the General Directorat­e of Residence Affairs have arrested 4 partially disabled expatriate­s for begging for alms, reports Al-Shahed daily.

The daily added, all the men who arrived into the country on visit visas were caught inside a market in downtown Kuwait City.

They have been referred to the deportatio­n centre.

Cash machine stolen:

Police are looking for unidentifi­ed persons for breaking into a shop in Jabriya selling Arabic sweet (kanafah) and stealing

the cash machine with KD 650, reports Al-Anba daily.

The Jordanian owner of the shop has filed a complaint with the area police station. Personnel from the Criminal Evidences Department have lifted fingerprin­ts to identify the culprits.

Man acquitted:

The Criminal Court chaired by Judge Metab Al-Ardi acquitted a Kuwaiti man of smuggling cocaine into the country through Kuwait Internatio­nal Airport with the intention of selling it, says AlSeyassah.

The Public Prosecutio­n Department charged the suspect for smuggling illicit substance without official permission, given that he’s an ex-convict. He is alleged to have smuggled the contraband in violation of law since evaded customs tariff.

Defense Counsel Sabr Al-Anzi faulted the procedures leading to arrest of his client, because the concerned officer did not secure warrant for his arrest. He argued that the defendant did not exhibit any traces of suspicion, thus the second suspect did not have any link with the incident.
